Husband-and-husband team Tam Pham and Harrison Ramhofer are throwing a party on their own terms. On the edge of downtown by the county courthouse, you won’t find a glamorous room, a DJ booth, or anybody in stilettos or designer sneakers. There is no bouncer by the door. Instead, come as you are for this celebration of Vietnamese cooking that started out as a supper club. Much of the food doesn’t require silverware: Think wings glossed in fish sauce caramel, smoky lamb with lettuce wraps and banh hoi noodles, and tamarind-glazed pork ribs. Finish with a slice of cheesecake made with cultured ca

Upscale Asian fusion menus are a dime a dozen in Magic City, but this attractive Brickell restaurant is a cut above the rest. Yes, there’s a DJ booth and yes, some entrees fly far north of $30 but there is style and substance to back it all up. The design features two stories of sleek concrete, wood furnishings and splashes of greenery with a handsome bar on the ground floor and the kitchen and dining room up top. The space is sized on the more intimate side and, fittingly so, the menu is equally well measured. Chicken liver pâté is sided by sweet plantain shokupan and spiced fig jam, while bl

True to its name, this favored counter is indeed hidden in the thick of busy Wynwood. The front door is not easy to find and slides open only with a time-sensitive passcode. But beyond the hustle and bustle, Chef Seijun Okano offers a mature, finely tuned omakase for the fortunate few seated at his counter. Fish flown in multiple times a week from Japan are handled with precision, sliced carefully and pressed into lush, vinegar-tinged rice that he makes at the start. Everyone is encouraged to ask questions and drink freely. All the while, the team works in perfect tandem, delivering a well-pac

If anybody is going to blast Snoop Dogg over the speakers, it might as well be this restaurant in downtown Miami. With glossy concrete floors, a dark, dim interior and a handful of come-as-you-are servers, it's an effortlessly cool spot. The cooking speaks volumes, designed for groups and based around Spanish tapas. Follow the hype and start with the much-talked-about charbroiled oyster, branded tableside with a hot coal and paired with ponzu and rice vinegar-mayo. Branzino tartare with white garlic cold soup, hearty paellas and other seafood-forward dishes showcase big flavors and quality pro

What started out as a little shipping container in 2017 has morphed into this brick-and-mortar hot spot in Little Havana. There is almost always a line of diners vying to squeeze into the narrow space, designed with emerald-green walls, vibrant tile and sleek brass trimmings.Everyone comes for the same thing: a superb Cuban sandwich featuring pork butt that's been marinated for a week in garlic and spices, then pressed between expertly grilled slices of house-made bread. A heavier but equally flavorful alternative is the lechon, starring tender shredded pork slathered in garlic-cilantro aïoli.

Outside it may be sunny and bright, but step inside ViceVersa, just off the lobby in the Elser Hotel, and it's a different mood entirely. Dark wood and rich green walls enhanced with pops of color from framed art lend a sultry moodiness to a room that's buzzing with activity. Most are here for the crispy, thin Neapolitan-style pizza, which is a focus of the tightly edited menu, but raw bar selections like royal red shrimp with a punchy cherry bomb relish and a smattering of appetizers (think salads and meatballs) with a bold Italian-minded approach are equally worthy of attention. Of Jewish and Latin descent but born and raised in Miami, Chef Michelle Bernstein is intrinsic to the city's culinary scene. For this concept in Little Havana, she teams up with cocktail guru, Julio Cabrera, and the result is extraordinary. It's a vivacious place that hums with live music and a décor that transports guests through decades of history—from Cuba to the Cuban experience in Southern Florida. The menu features such classics as lechon with steamed yuca and tangerine mojo. Specials may deviate from the norm but are exquisite in their sweet and savory blend—think seared foie gras paired
