Michelin-starred Greek cuisine? "Modern Greek cuisine" is what it says on the front door, and that's what you get at this charming, tastefully decorated restaurant run by a husband-and-wife team. The dishes are sophisticated and rich in flavour, interspersed with French influences and the light touch of Mediterranean cuisine. Chef Joannis Malathounis clearly draws inspiration from his Hellenic roots, yet he never relies on them too heavily. It's exciting to see this interpretation of Greek cuisine. There are two 4- to 5-course menus, one of which is vegetarian. In the cosy dining rooms, guests

Modern Cuisine, Classic French · ★ Michelin

In a location in the Beutelsbach district that used to house Krone, Cédric Staudenmayer cooks up ambitious cuisine with strong seasonal and regional influences. In his modern take on classical culinary foundations, he harmoniously combines bold flavours and creates well-judged contrasts – for example in his "char, beetroot, herbs, radishes" or "poulet noir fermier, Brussels sprouts, potato, apple". The set menu, which changes every six weeks, is also available in a vegetarian version if ordered in advance. The setting is pleasant: the building dates from 1800, and the classical, traditional in

Dating back to 1647, this lovely building on Marktplatz is the second oldest in Waiblingen and was once a pharmacy. Today, chic and trendy decor, as well as a lively atmosphere make for an appealing contrast with the historical setting. Nab a seat at the counter for a front-row view into the glass-paned kitchen, where chef-patron Bernd Bachofer conjures up dishes that are cosmopolitan, exciting and meticulously prepared using first-rate ingredients – for instance the perfectly cooked and flamed black cod fillet marinated in miso, or the highly aromatic and tender caramelised suckling pig belly

It is not without good reason that this 300-year-old restaurant has so many regulars. Here, they honour tradition while managing to keep up with the times – and that goes for both the decor and the food, which is not only beautifully presented but also of the highest quality. The Swabian cuisine follows the seasons and draws on international influences. The emphasis is on regional ingredients, including meat and sausage products made on site in their own butcher's shop. As well as à la carte dishes, a three- or four-course set menu is available.

The Oettinger brothers bring great dedication to the running of this family business, whose history stretches back over 150 years. Michael Oettinger's contemporary take on classic French-inspired cuisine revolves around excellent produce – such as superb French Challans duck, the pink-roasted breast of which is wonderfully showcased with preserved lemon, okra pods and sweet potato. The two set menus comprise three to five courses – you can also swap or add on dishes. On Wednesdays, the restaurant serves exclusively the very reasonably priced two- or three-course "Midweek Special Menu" – an ide

Don’t be put off by the somewhat unprepossessing exterior at Brunnenstuben because the food is excellent! Petra and Thorsten Beyer – she running the kitchen, he managing the friendly and professional front-of-house team – serve flavoursome Swabian fare including an excellent Zwiebelrostbraten (roast beef with onions).

The Waldenmaier family (now in its fourth generation) cooks excellent regional fare with seasonal produce. A variety of three-course set menus is available, including one that is vegetarian and one featuring fish. Dishes can also be ordered à la carte or mixed and matched as desired. Additionally, there are one or two "special recommendations". What's more, they hunt their own game and distil their own schnapps! While chef-patron Sven cooks, Simone provides cordial service. This cosy and charmingly decorated restaurant is located on the first floor, as is the gorgeous balcony terrace.

After driving past seemingly endless rows of vines, you will eventually reach this small vineyard, where a traditional mountain inn has been reimagined as a trendy and modern dining destination. Floor-to-ceiling windows showcase breathtaking panoramic views of the region. There is also a terrace. "Fine Swabian cuisine" is the name of the game at this restaurant, which is run by a young couple – Annika Braun presides front-of-house and her husband, Manuel, is the chef. He mainly uses locally sourced ingredients, following the seasonal availability of produce, and also likes to incorporate eleme
