Nestled in the countryside, this restaurant surrounded by its own orchard enjoys an idyllic setting – the soothing view of the greenery is wonderful. The bright and airy dining space has the feel of a modern and upscale conservatory. In summer, the glass walls can be opened onto the beautiful garden. Hostess Anja-Margaretha Moritz provides cordial service with a personal touch; in the kitchen, Roman Pichler meticulously prepares exquisite regional ingredients that go into his pleasingly pared-back dishes that are full of contrasts and yet exceedingly harmonious. A special mention goes to the s

A welcoming mountain hotel with a focus on sustainability is the setting for this bright and lively restaurant which, at lunchtime, serves local traditional dishes inspired by the recipes of Marija Plesnika, who cooked here in the 1940s. In the evening, on the other hand, guests are served a tasting menu which is available only by booking ahead for anyone not staying at the hotel. In the kitchen, experienced Janez Bratovž, renowned for his work at the JB Restavracija in Ljubljana, is here in an advisory role, while the talented young Tom Čopar who has experience both in Slovenia and abroad is

The fine alpine house that is home to the restaurant stands at the end of the Jezersko valley, just steps from the Austrian border. Here one breathes fully the Central European atmosphere that draws visitors to places of such character: imposing mountains and limpid streams frame a landscape of great appeal. In the kitchen, a young chef offers a straightforward cuisine deeply rooted in the territory. Trout and venison are constant presences, alongside excellent local beef, at times served with a delicate sweet-and-sour beetroot rose. Whether one chooses from the à la carte menu or entrusts the

This is a great place with a host of standout features: picture a converted old sawmill that is set in a quiet, idyllic location and boasts a sensational garden terrace with tables within spitting distance of the neighbouring forest! Works by various artists adorn this charming spot. The interior, too, is beautiful, combining traditional charm (the elaborately carved wooden ceiling is striking) with modern features. On top of this, the cordial Sicher family are strongly invested in their work in the kitchen and on the restaurant floor. They propose an ambitious and creative seasonal set menu a

What started as a pop-up has now become a permanent fixture in the historical Gasthaus zum Prinz Johann. The proprietor duo, Martin Nuart and Philipp Medved, offer their guests a very personal dining experience. Philipp manages things front-of-house with delightful ease, friendliness, and proficiency, while Martin heads up the regional cuisine. His intriguing plant-forward set menu showcases select seasonal ingredients from his family's own farm or neighbouring agricultural producers. In terms of wine, Austria takes centre stage, and is accompanied by offerings from Slovenia and Italy. The set

Every day, Martina Breznik, the fourth generation to run this restaurant, chooses the best produce from her own garden, the nearby forest and from trusted local growers and farmers for her dishes. The result is an immersive introduction to the Luče region, thanks to the early spring vegetables, excellent cheeses and delicious autumn mushrooms that feature on the menu. Whatever the season, the menu changes daily and guarantees an authentic dining experience with a strong local flavour. Don’t miss the trout from the River Savinja served with vegetables from the kitchen garden. Young Filip will b
