Contemporary, Seasonal Cuisine · ★ Michelin

A bustling little restaurant of the sort you might expect to find in Berlin or New York, this place is a real gem. The tables are set close together and the atmosphere is pleasingly laid back. You can watch the two chefs in the open kitchen as they prepare a six-course surprise menu. You need to allow plenty of time for this dining experience, but the 3.5hrs are absolutely worth it: the dishes are made with regional ingredients, and great emphasis is placed on seasonality and provenance. The dishes are thoughtfully devised and full of character, revealing a distinctive culinary identity. A v

This elegant fine dining restaurant in the town centre is housed in the magnificent Grand Hotel Zermatterhof. The classical setting done out with fine wood panelling affords a splendid view of the church, Pfarrkirche St Mauritius. Choose between two appealing set menus: One has an international focus with regional touches; the other is vegetarian and showcases regional produce. Besides the meticulous preparation, the balance of the flavours and the exceptional quality of the ingredients, the robust stocks and sauces deserve a special mention for the striking contrasts they add. Capri
Italian · ★ Michelin

You don't have to venture to the island of Capri for sophisticated classic Italian cuisine, because the chefs of Capri Palace spend the winter at this restaurant in Zermatt. The lift takes you to the fourth floor of Le Petit Cervin (adjoining Mont Cervin Palace) in under 20 seconds. Diners can choose between two set menus – one of them vegetarian – or order à la carte. Service is attentive and seamlessly coordinated. In the elegant interior, premium materials and warm, light-toned wood combine to create a refined yet welcoming ambience. Tip: Opt for a window table to make the most of the view.

The lift takes you up to the fine dining restaurant on the third floor of Backstage Hotel. Relax over an aperitif on the comfortable couch stationed beneath an originally designed chandelier made up of musical instruments. Then comes the creative surprise menu composed of five or six courses, which is prepared in the open kitchen by Florian Neubauer's dedicated team, and features dishes such as mussel, artichoke and chorizo, or beef, onion and sansho pepper. A novel touch: The bread is baked right at your table. There is also an optional cheese course. To accompany both set menus, you can choo

At this restaurant in the chic Alpine CERVO Mountain Resort, located at the end of a ski slope, you are whisked away to an exotic and predominantly vegetarian world of flavours, ranging from Arab to Chinese specialities, from baba ganoush (smoked eggplant, tahini, pomegranate and garlic) to the Indian dal makhani (black lentils, sweet potatoes, mustard tarak and chapati) and dim sum such as "Phoenix Eye" (tofu, glass noodles, black mushrooms and wombok) or Tibetan tse tang churo momos, and sweet mezze for dessert. A tip before we get started: In fine weather, be sure to nab a table on the terrace in front of the building, from which you can take in stunning views of the Matterhorn! But the brasserie of the long-established Grand Hotel Zermatterhof also provides a delightful, classically elegant setting with its lovely walnut panelling and partially glass-paned vaulted ceiling. The cuisine is French and draws on international influences. The menu includes "Lusi Classics" such as calf's head, and traditional dishes such as Wiener schnitzel, steak tartare, burgers and flammkuchen – and there is always an e

A lift whisks you up here from the pedestrian area – to some breathtaking views! The restaurant in the hotel of the same name presents an attractive à la carte menu, including vegetarian dishes. Those who enjoy the element of surprise can opt for the five-course "Chef's Choice" set menu (with meat/fish or vegetarian), with optional wine pairings. The wine list boasts a fantastic selection of labels from Switzerland and France, especially Burgundy and Bordeaux. The modern, upscale interior has clean lines and is furnished with large granite-topped tables. Tip: Start with an aperitif in the invi

Dietmar and Nicole Sawyere have moved on from Dallenwil, where they enjoyed great success with two restaurants at Gasthaus zum Kreuz. Since December 2025, the dedicated couple, along with their daughter and son and the Dallenwil team, have been running this compact restaurant in the charming Hotel Welschen. The cuisine, rooted in classical traditions and inspired by the seasons, is presented as a five-course menu, with optional dishes to add on or swap in. A fine example of the bold and technically precise cooking is the tender Alpine Angus beef served with aromatic white asparagus tips and a
