Mezra Yalıkavak

Farm to table, Turkish · ★ Michelin

Huge floor-to-ceiling windows lend this lofty industrial-style, design-forward restaurant an open feel. The two VIP tables tucked into the corners of the upper level and the marble counter seats are the ones to go for. As you make your way to your table, you pass the lounge bar and the tandoori oven; just beyond is the stage where concerts are occasionally performed. The grounds also include a vegetable garden and space for a few animals – the chef even runs his own farm.Local ingredients form the core of the modern take on Turkish cuisine served here. Maçakızı does not give away its secrets easily. The drive that snakes along the narrow roads raises your expectations with each turn, until you arrive at this luxury hotel (the rooms are gorgeous!) nestled on a hillside of stunning natural beauty. The mesmerising views of the bay and the elegant decor will captivate you the moment you enter. This is a truly special place, make no mistake. The new take on Aegean cuisine that chef Aret Sahakyan and his team bring to the table only reinforces that feeling. The classic roots of their dishes are evident in the hearty sauces, such as fish fumet with

Kitchen By Osman Sezener

Modern Cuisine, Country cooking · ★ Michelin

Osman Sezener and his team propose an original and cosmopolitan take on Turkish cuisine. Produce from the region takes centre stage and it is always guaranteed to be fresh and flavourful. The dishes are not overly complicated, but they certainly pack a punch. The chef skilfully draws out the intensity of his ingredients with a distinctively subtle touch. He grills prawns from local waters, for instance, only briefly, to ensure they reach your plate succulent. They are topped with a prawn mayonnaise and finished with a lemon coulis that adds a gentle sweetness. A streak of herb oil and allspice

At Orkide Balik, you can almost feel the sand between your toes as you enjoy your meal, and, on warm days, the terrace beneath the tall trees is especially inviting. The chef takes full advantage of the restaurant's seaside location to serve fish at its absolute freshest. But before you order your main course, be sure to sample starters such as "seacuterie" (seafood charcuterie) and stuffed mussels, and don't miss out on the mezze displayed in the refrigerated counter. The dishes are prepared without any fuss, and with that traditional sense of generosity. Think marinated squid or deep-fried s

Çiğdem Seferoğlu invites you to the Avantgarde Refined Yalikavak Hotel, home to her open-air restaurant that boasts a magnificent view of the sea. More compelling still is her personal take on the region's culinary bounty. Her light and elegant cuisine highlights fish and seafood with a feminine touch. She confits gurnard in olive oil, which renders the texture wonderfully soft, and serves the fish with fennel seasoned with turmeric and coriander seeds, a blend of purslane and mint leaves with nectarine, and warm Turkish bread. The chef also prepares meticulous vegetarian dishes and proves tha

The luxury yachts and chic boutiques may call to mind Saint Tropez, but you are in fact sitting on a terrace on Yalikavak's marina. The restaurant's maritime decor leaves no doubt that fish and seafood are the speciality of the house. The day's catch is displayed on ice, and you are handed an extensive menu of irresistible options. Begin, for example, with dolmas filled with aromatic rice and meat, then move on to the prawn ceviche infused with orange, lime and dill. Each plate bursts with colour, fragrance and generous flavours. Home cooking is at the heart of this family-run place – and the

The olive trees around you and the views over the bay accentuate Loft Elia's Zen feel. Although this lounge-style restaurant is fully open to the elements, it nonetheless has an intimate atmosphere. The natural vibe suits the menu down to the ground. A commitment to local produce and sustainable practices are part of their ethos underpinned by respect for the planet. The kitchen team's inspired, fine dining-quality dishes are deliciously spicy. For example, their airy feta sponge cake is freeze-dried with three varieties of tomato to give it delicate sweetness and tang. This cuisine is truly i
