It is worth making your way out to Lichtenberg: up here on the 12th floor of Vienna House Andel's, you have a fantastic view over Berlin. The decor has a chic, urban feel, but also incorporates some striking vintage details, such as the old doors. There are two five-course modern set menus, "Voyage Culinaire" and "Vegetarian"; the former includes, for example, "skrei, celeriac, char caviar" and "flank steak, roasted vegetables, bone marrow". Accompanied, on request, by the perfect wine or alcohol-free pairing. The wine list has an Eastern European focus – you can count on the highly profession

Don't be fooled by the unassuming-looking exterior of this Neukölln eatery – a very special take on fine dining awaits you inside. The atmosphere in the dimly lit interior is lively and laid-back. Dine either at the counter, with a view into the kitchen, or at one of the surrounding tables. If you're lucky, you'll be given a sneak peek into how one ingredient or another is prepared in the kitchen. The cooking style is quite unique: René Frank and his team apply patisserie techniques. Particularly refined examples include "buttercream with plum, walnut, and dulse" and "grilled peach with pointe

This restaurant is located on Böhmischer Platz, which is a lively little square – the bustling energy of the setting makes the pavement terrace a popular spot in summer. The interior has its own allure: understated yet stylish, with a wonderfully vibrant atmosphere. The charming urban setting is in keeping with the modern, streamlined and often pared-back cuisine; crafted from high-quality ingredients, the dishes are bold and punchy. Alongside the signature dish, "potato, lovage, whey", highlights include "halibut, champagne, Périgord truffle" or "morel, scallop, XO". Behind it all is a dedica

A cool spot with a buzzy atmosphere, where diners can choose to sit at small tables or at long tables for a convivial group experience. The open kitchen sends out Cantonese dishes such as various dim sum and dumplings. N.B. When they say it's "spicy" here, they mean it! You can dine à la carte or choose from several set menus designed for sharing. The food is accompanied by an extensive selection of wines, spirits, cocktails and long drinks.

What a cosy and quaint-feeling place, serving what the owners term "Heimatküche": think hearty, fresh, flavoursome cuisine. Classic German dishes are the stars of the show – game and goose are specialities of the house. They are at pains to use regional ingredients and remain aligned with the seasons. Service courtesy of friendly and competent staff. Make the most of the beer garden in summer.

This restaurant tucked away in the third courtyard of the Otto-Reichel-Höfe hits the mark. Inside, the converted distillery exudes a casual, trendy urban loft atmosphere with an industrial feel. At beautiful solid old beechwood tables, diners tuck into ingredient-led seasonal cuisine. The modern, creative dishes are served in the form of a five- or seven-course set menu – either with meat/fish or vegetarian. Dishes such as "spring salad, brawn & peanut" or "Tafelspitz (prime boiled beef), wild garlic & coffee", are rich in flavour and represent excellent value for money. Service is provided by

Merold promises "new German cuisine" – top-notch ingredients from Berlin and the surrounding Brandenburg region. Often pared back to just a few components, the dishes deliver a hit of flavour and intensity. The signature "onion, buckwheat, black garlic" is a particular highlight. In the four- or five-course set menu, each course consists of two dishes – optional add-ons include cheese or the superb house-made bratwurst. They also have a well-curated wine list. The modern, pared-back decor is inviting, and the service is attentive, knowledgeable and agreeably relaxed. Chef-patron Jonas Merold h

The atmosphere here is friendly and vibrant, both on the terrace, with tables laid out on the street in front of the restaurant, and inside, where diners are seated at small tables (no tablecloths here), and old floorboards, panelled walls and a counter make for a traditional tavern-like atmosphere. The restaurant serves vegetarian Levante cuisine, including dishes that are perfect for sharing, such as hummus with roasted cauliflower or shakshuka. The delicious pita (flatbread) and the aromatic challah (yeast-leavened bread) come fresh from the oven – both can also be purchased to take home.
