Housed within the attractive Salini Resort Hotel overlooking the bay of the same name, this exquisite restaurant uses top-quality ingredients to craft a Mediterranean-led score, although modern trends are starting to make a fleeting appearance in some recipes. The lunchtime lineup is slightly simpler than that served in the evening.

A simple yet modern bistro–trattoria, depicted by a warm, friendly vibe and run by a local chef who draws on his experience to craft Mediterranean-inspired fare that is firmly rooted in local traditions and producers. The focus is mainly, though not exclusively, on turf ingredients, resulting in generous, flavoursome dishes that are as appealing to the eye as they are to the palate. The bouncy, spot-on staff is happy to offer suggestions and recommendations, from the daily blackboard specials to insightful wine pairing options.

This restaurant has a long and fascinating history, starting with the building itself (around 300 years old) and continuing with that of the family at the helm, who have been here since 1930 and once provided support for the Royal Marines. The dining room sports a rustic yet tasteful decor with exposed brickwork and contemporary furnishings, while the cuisine focuses on fresh ingredients packed in flavour. We particularly recommend the pappardelle pasta with a duck ragù and a few chopped hazelnuts for extra whoomph.

Chef-owner Andrew Vella concocts a Mediterranean score with a creative and personal touch. During the summer, guests can dine alfresco in the quiet, refreshing sanctuary of an inner courtyard.
