Wine lovers will be delighted to see the walk-in glass wine cabinet upon entering the restaurant – it gives a first impression of the 300 or so labels on offer here. The chic interior with its stylish, minimalist design and distinctive details is also sure to draw the eye. This makes for a pleasant atmosphere, as does the charming and accomplished service. A sophisticated setting such as this serves as a perfect backdrop for head chef Fabian Heldmann's contemporary cuisine which is rich in contrasts, offered as a set menu with up to seven courses. Be aware that on Saturdays they only offer the

Even after all these years, 5 is still bang on trend. This is primarily down to Alexander Dinter's modern cuisine. Since 2018, he has been the creative force at the helm, successfully incorporating his own original ideas into his seasonally inspired set menu. The location near the Schlossgarten, in what was Stuttgart's first ever railway station, is also unique. A laid-back urban vibe combined with an elegant lounge decor makes for a special atmosphere, which persists as you move from the stylish bar on the ground floor to the "casual fine dining" restaurant on the first floor. Here, guests si

In this long-standing family business, the dedication of the Scherle brothers is plain to see. Their modern brand of cooking is strongly influenced by Japanese cuisine. The duo heading up the kitchens, Jörg Scherle and Holger Haag, create cleverly constructed and extremely precise dishes with skilfully integrated contrasts. These come into their own, for example, in the "yellowfin tuna, sakura, black cherry, celery, finger limes, ponzu, koji beurre blanc" with its delicate interplay of tuna, fruit acidity and sweetness. There are two set menus to choose from, one of which is vegetarian, each c

The elegant restaurant within the Linden Museum, Baden-Württemberg's state museum of ethnology, is serving Mediterranean-inspired seafood dishes such as "bouillabaisse, sauce rouille, focaccia crisp" or "octopus, beans, chorizo". A five-course set menu is available, with an additional three-course option on Tue-Thu. The vegetarian version needs to be pre-ordered.

An evening here has a distinctly exclusive feel, which can be attributed not least to the intimate setting – with just a handful of tables, the small and friendly team manages to bring a personal touch to your interactions. As maître d' and sommelier, Andreas Lutz provides courteous and highly competent service and astute wine recommendations. Andreas Hettinger (now also owner of the restaurant) continues to run the open kitchen, where he turns excellent ingredients into harmonious dishes that draw on classic, Mediterranean and creative influences, such as "spaghettini, Oscietra caviar, olive

This long-standing inn in Stuttgart's Bad Cannstatt district is in one of the area's oldest half-timbered buildings, dating back to the 15C. The setting is cosy and rustic, with lots of aged wood creating a charming, old-world atmosphere. The kitchen is headed by Can Basar, who previously worked at several renowned establishments. The menu includes seasonal and international cuisine alongside timeless classics – the roast beef is a favourite. In addition to an à la carte selection, there is also a four- or five-course set menu.

In her tiny restaurant, host Giovanna Di Tommaso (known as Nannina) devotes herself tirelessly to her passion: Italian cuisine. Prepared with fresh high-quality ingredients, her dishes are ambitious and packed with flavour. As well as an extensive à la carte menu, there are three different set menus – one for two or more people and another for four. Delightful terrace to the rear of the building. Practical: The restaurant has its own car park.

The absolutely fabulous location is as much of a draw as the glass architecture, the design and the ambitious international cuisine. There is a simpler lunch menu, too. The o.T. Bar serves breakfast, cake and after-work drinks. The lovely terrace is positioned on Schlossplatz, a square in front of the art museum. Tip for theatre- and concert-goers: Ask about their "late-night" dining slot.
