The contemporary loft-style vibe in the dining room contributes to the sophisticated ambience and makes it the perfect option for a date or to impress friends. This includes intimate lighting and professional service, with the team attentive to every detail and keen for customers to leave completely satisfied. Owner-chef Gabriel Oggero works with small-scale independent producers, fishermen and farmers in order to source the very best seasonal ingredients (the restaurant also has its own rooftop city garden). Oysters are a particular speciality and fish-lovers will delight in a menu which is c

Don Julio

There are very few people who haven’t heard of the Don Julio restaurant and Pablo Rivero, the owner-chef at one of the world’s best “parrillas”. Walking through the door of this restaurant, where it is always difficult to book a table, is akin to immersing yourself in the culinary culture of Argentina, and enables you to understand its passion for meat, which is seen here as a family legacy (Pablo’s grandmother was a butcher and his parents cattle breeders). They have attained this level of excellence thanks to the exclusive mixed ageing process used, their assiduous selection of meat (Herefor

The popularity of this Asian-style steakhouse, which was opened in 2017 by the owners of La Carnicería, demonstrates the perfect fit between this restaurant and the district of Palermo Soho. An ideal venue for a night out with friends, or a restorative weekend lunch, it is bold, lively and exuberantly decorated – the red hanging lanterns must have featured on thousands of Instagram accounts! It has the feel of traditional Japanese izakaya, especially if you sit at the bar directly in front of the chefs. The ingredients may be Argentinian, but the flavours and techniques are either Japanese, Ko

If you’re on the lookout for a restaurant with plenty of history, make sure you pay a visit to El Preferido de Palermo, which opened its doors in 1952 as a modest tavern. This busy eatery, occupying an iconic pink building dating back to 1885, is now run by the owner of the Don Julio parrilla, just one block away, and has retained its bygone character (period floors, mirrors, colourful jars of pickles etc) following heavy restoration, while at the same time updating its cuisine with an à la carte that respects the Buenos Aires DNA of this former warehouse. You can’t leave without trying the fa

There’s a palpable sense of authenticity in this friendly restaurant, where the young owners have created a warm and welcoming ambience perfect for a romantic supper. The service is attentive without being excessively formal, while the soft colour scheme contributes to Reliquia’s warmth and intimacy. The menu is equally attractive with options for every taste – the chef has a perfect command of flavours and textures and uses techniques such as escabeche to raise the level of his dishes further, many of which showcase vegetables in a more rustic, home-style manner. When we see a restaurant with a long waitlist, there’s a good reason for it! This modern, bistro-style eatery run by Julio Martín Baez, a chef who hails from the town of Chacabuco on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, and ably supported by chef Sol Peretti, describes his cuisine at his restaurant in the district of Villa Crespo as “indie” to give himself completely free rein to expand the concept of “less is more”. He has been highly successful in this, building a culinary model with lots of personality and one which is reliant on a team effort. Although the à la carte is not extensive, it is well

This unpretentious restaurant in the Palermo district, where you’ll need to ring the bell to gain access, is a potentially good option for its informal tapas and its wide array of traditional-style small plates. This bistro-eatery, boasting the appearance and feel of a modest tavern with old photos of the chef’s family adorning the walls, also features a small bar counter (with 4 stools) where guests can watch the team in the kitchen hard at work. The cuisine here revolves around a concise à la carte menu that aims to combine local cuisine with tapas and more traditional dishes, while always w

We particularly enjoy variety and a sense of personality, hence our attraction to this relaxed industrial-style restaurant where everything revolves around informally, yet meticulously prepared fish, including tapas. Located in the heart of the Colegiales district, the overall feel here is original and fun. The decor features a large steel scaffolding-style bar counter (the tables are similar in design), colourful maritime-inspired murals and, in the centre of the room, a maturing cabinet that aims to add more flavour and new textures to some of the ingredients used here (bass, mullet, bream,
