Marc Fosh

€€€€

Although tucked away along a narrow street in the historic quarter of the city, this restaurant (part of a 17C seminary that has been superbly converted into the Convent de La Missió hotel) comes as a delightful surprise. In its meticulous modern interior, featuring brightly lit spaces with a minimalist feel and a pleasant patio-terrace, discover the cuisine of Marc Fosh, the first British chef to be awarded a Michelin star on Spanish soil. His culinary philosophy brings together flavour, technique and creativity and highlights, through simply constructed yet sophisticated combinations, the se

Zaranda

Creative · ★ Michelin

€€€€

Fernando Pérez Arellano’s legendary Zaranda restaurant continues to delight the senses in Palma’s old quarter, within the walls of the Es Princep luxury hotel (a Michelin Key recipient), but with a separate entrance. It stands above the remains of a former tannery, playing with the origins of the site and the lexicon to invite us to enjoy evocative experiences in different rooms (Guild Hall, Saddler's Corner, Tanner's Dining Room, etc.): A flor de piel (12 courses, in 3 spaces) and Plena flor (18 courses, in 3 spaces). There are interesting pickled options as appetisers, all of them with nods

Located amid the attractive surroundings of Palma’s cathedral, on the ground floor of the attractive El Llorenç Parc de la Mar boutique hotel. In the elegant, contemporary style dining room, chef Santi Taura demonstrates his passion for traditional Mallorcan cuisine, taking everyday recipes from the islands and bringing them up to date, using native ingredients and prioritising flavour over and above anything else. He presides over a single tasting menu called Origens (11 courses, although another three courses can also be added) which changes in line with the seasons and takes us on a journey

La Vieja by Jonay Hernández

Creative, Regional Cuisine

€€

A restaurant with a distinct urban feel which is striking for its genuine graffiti (note the huge octopus!) and the influence of the Canary Islands (chef Jonay Hernández’s homeland) in its cuisine. The cooking here is described here as “new Canarian cuisine” that features local ingredients and an American and Mexican touch. It also takes its inspiration from the island’s culinary roots, which is showcased in several dishes that the chef has inherited from his mother. A great option for those who enjoy fish and seafood.

Aromata

Contemporary, Regional Cuisine

€€€

Chef Andreu Genestra’s cuisine, in the impressive surroundings of the HM Palma Blanc, a hotel combining the essence of the Mediterranean with a more innovative architectural design, continues to be influenced by a contemporary gastronomic philosophy and the island’s culinary traditions. The à la carte, which always aims to showcase the best ingredients available daily, is complemented by a successful lunchtime menu (with a choice of dishes) and two tasting-style options in the evening: Aromata and Sentits (to which a selection of cheeses can be added for a supplement). Aromata also has its own

In the heart of Palma’s old quarter, just a few metres from the Convento de la Concepció after which the street is named, you’ll come across this rustic-style eatery with lots of character, thanks mainly to its restored natural stone walls. It features two distinct dining spaces: one overlooking the kitchen for a more authentic experience, plus the pleasant main dining room. The à la carte dining format here is based around the Mediterranean with the occasional global touch, ably supported by seasonal suggestions and fish of the day options. Having tried the grilled wild turbot we can safely c

Little Jarana

International, Mediterranean Cuisine

€€

Chef Abraham Artigas' small bistro, which has carved out a niche for itself within the city's culinary scene, presents a fairly informal and fun menu, based on Mediterranean cuisine but incorporating some international touches. Among its offerings, with many dishes designed for sharing, we were particularly impressed by its Scarlet shrimp, ham and lime, as well as the Gnocchi, cockles and bottarga (the latter, a huge hit, has never been taken off the menu). They don't serve soft drinks, beer or coffee, just wine (mainly from small producers), some vermouth and water!
