Burg Nideggen - Brockel Schlimbach

Modern Cuisine, Modern French · ★ Michelin

€€€€

What is it that makes this place stand out? For one thing, the location in a 12C castle above Nideggen in the middle of the Eifel National Park. For another, the attractive interior: a small period dining room in which plenty of beautiful woodwork as well as modern design details make for a truly unique setting. Last but not least comes the cuisine of owner Herbert Brockel and Tobias Schlimbach, whose names the restaurant bears. Their dishes are inspired by classical and Mediterranean cooking and based on carefully selected, mostly regional ingredients chosen according to the seasons. The set

This beautiful property is a little out of the way – on summer days, diners can enjoy sitting out on the terrace. The restaurant has been around for many years. In addition to cordial hosts and friendly service, the programme here includes regionally influenced cuisine, which you can choose to sample as a set menu or à la carte. The menu also features barbecued meat, such as rump steak, and classics like schnitzel and roast joint.

Burg Nideggen - Kaiserblick

Farm to table

This eatery is a good alternative to the Brockel Schlimbach restaurant at Nideggen's centuries-old castle, Burg Nideggen. They serve market-based cuisine in the form of regional dishes, prepared from fresh seasonal ingredients mainly sourced from suppliers and producers in the region. The interior decor is modern and the front-of-house team is very friendly and obliging. Weather permitting, you can dine on the pretty terrace in the castle courtyard.

The centuries-old castle with its extensive grounds is a magnificent property, boasting stylish rooms and salons displaying period details behind its massive old walls. This stately backdrop makes for a fabulous setting in which to relish classic cuisine either à la carte or in the form of a three- to six-course set menu. Caviar or oysters are popular appetisers, followed by tempting dishes such as "smoked eel, eel glaze, beetroot, potato, radish" or "lobster tail, mandarin, kumquat, walnut, gin gel, bergamot beurre blanc". Friendly and attentive service. Tip: There is an interesting set menu
