Originally opened by Gloria and Patrick Greene as an organic farm, this ever-so-charming spot has evolved since the late 90s and now features a wine and coffee bar, as well as shops set among the mango trees and this restaurant. It's family run and all heart—they grow their own produce, raise chickens, have an onsite butcher program, and bake all the breads, too. The tempting menu features offerings such as Neapolitan flatbreads, salads, and lighter starters like a flavorful gazpacho. From there choose one of their sandwiches, or an entrée like the pork chop with crispy potatoes. Portion sizes

Nao
Mediterranean Cuisine
$$$$
One look at Nao, with whitewashed brick and pops of blue, and you won't be surprised that it's Mediterranean-minded. What will come as a welcome surprise, however, is the high level of service and the exemplary dishes. Local chef Alex Branch has created a winning menu, and from the bread and pasta to the gelato, everything is made in house. Don't skip the starters, especially the roasted beets with pomegranate molasses. From there, tuck into house-made tortellini with flavors of cacio e pepe with shrimp, small tobiko, and pea tendrils. Main dishes, like lechón, are sized for sharing, which lea

There's sure to be a crowd at this Arts District charmer, housed in a casita dating back to the 1940s. The space is fronted by umbrella-shaded tables facing a papel picado-strewn street. Inside and out back, it's all quite comfortable. This casual bistro serves throughout the day, and there is a coffee counter and display case of conchas, croissants and donuts, among other treats. More substantial offerings include cheese and charcuterie, salads, sandwiches and wood-fired pizza. At brunch, order the chilaquiles (available only Friday-Sunday), served in a skillet with crisp yellow corn tortilla

Lumbre
Mexican
$$$$
Located just off the art walk in San Jose del Cabo, Lumbre is a contemporary, stylish space from César Pita. It's a Mexican and live fire concept with global influences where creativity and originality reign supreme. Case in point? The grilled bread that kicks off the meal that's served with a bone marrow butter, served in the bone with hibiscus salt. And that's just the beginning. Compressed watermelon is a riot of colors and flavor, then a classic chile relleno is revamped with a Pasilla chile, stuffed with a "scallop chorizo" with gooey cheese, and fried until crispy. LÍMO Heritage Kitchen at Suelo Sur
Mexican
$$$
Just outside of San José del Cabo, this farm to table, open-air restaurant is the showpiece of Chef Guillermo J. Gómez, who displays his affection for local ingredients on a menu divided by garden, sea, roots, and live fire. Begin with bread crafted from blue corn and organic whole wheat then grilled over a live fire and set with a puree of seasonal vegetables. Appetizers are equally enticing, as in the yellowtail jack that's gently grilled, then sliced sashimi-style and served with a coconut aguachile and plantain puree. Omakai
Japanese
$$$$
Located near the heart of San Jose del Cabo, Omakai sports a serene Mexican minimalist design while putting Japanese cuisine front and center. There are three menus to choose from, but whether you choose the teppanyaki tasting menu, the omakase, or select from the a la carte offerings, you can't go wrong. Those who opt for the omakase will find good quality, with many of the fish sourced from the local waters of La Paz and Ensenada. House-made pork belly gyoza are executed flawlessly, while the nigiri leans traditional at first, becoming more complex as the meal progresses. Seared salmon toppe

Up a dusty road is this jungle resort where you'll discover an animal sanctuary, villas and treehouses, and this chic, open-air restaurant where fans swirl overhead and misters keep the abundant greenery at its peak. The casual, contemporary Mexican cooking is punched up with Asian influences, and the simple-but-stylish dishes are as gorgeous as the delightful setting. Guacamole is a perfect opener, with a bowl that's pitch-perfect in flavor but equally impressive with its looks (think flower petals as a flourish). Ceviche in a fresh, sweet mango sauce with leche de tigre is a riot of color be

CARBÓNCABRÓN
Contemporary
$$$$
Chef Poncho Cadena is in charge at this moody space where it will take your eyes a minute to adjust to the darkness. Library-style stacks of mesquite wood serve as a dramatic design theme but also as a not-so-subtle hint at the live fire concept. The menu is divided into vegetables, seafood and "black market" meats including tongue, sweetbread and more. These plates are ideal for sharing, though a chef's tasting menu is on hand for those who want to sample it all. Nuanced cooking is seen in dishes like the onion petals filled with habanero aïoli, coated in charcoal tempura batter, and fried. S
