Celebrating "Vegetables in Many Facets", the kitchen presents modern, creative vegetarian dishes with a regional and seasonal emphasis. There is a seven-course set menu with optional add-ons. À la carte choices are also available. Beverage accompaniments include natural wines, beers and alcohol-free drinks. Tip for lunch: the "Business Lunch" menu with up to four courses. The restaurant stands in the heart of the old town, a stone's throw from the Bern Minster. In addition to the attractive, charmingly minimalist space on the upper floor (there are also a few seats in the entrance area), the p

Hostess Daniela Jaun and chef Pascal Melliger (partners both professionally and privately) put their heart and soul into running this lovely restaurant. The entrance is somewhat hidden, with a steep staircase leading down into the elegant cellar space and its pretty vaulted ceiling. The chef-patron's cooking is modern and precise, showcasing select produce with an impeccable sense of elegance. A prime example is the succulent and flavoursome line-caught sea bass paired with an aromatic classic fish sauce, avocado purée and fried artichokes. You can choose a four-, five- or six-course format of

In the attractive Kirchenfeld district, this restaurant housed in what was once the US embassy has an inviting atmosphere – the modern interior design features a harmonious combination of clean lines, warm wood finishings and muted tones, complemented by an open kitchen. The terrace to the rear of the building beckons in summer. The commitment of the owners, Sara and Benjamin Jann is palpable – both when it comes to the charming and attentive service from a team who go out of their way to cater to guests' every need, and the delicious food. The latter includes tender Bäggli ragout made from Aa

Housed in the stunning building of Casino Bern, a cultural centre opened in 1909 in the heart of the Old Town, this restaurant boasts a distinctive atmosphere created by the blend of a wonderful historic setting and brasserie chic, which extends onto the lovely large terrace in summer – a perfect spot from which to gaze out over the River Aare in the shade of the trees. The menu features classic cuisine as well as Italian-inspired dishes. A set menu (also available in a vegetarian version) is complemented by an à la carte selection and large cuts of meat for two people. Alongside the restauran

A hip, vibrant spot – and the new venture of Markus Arnold. Previously the driving force behind restaurant Steinhalle, the chef-patron and his entire team have relocated to this chic modern restaurant housed in a former 1970s cinema by the railway station. In this new setting, he continues to create his "Cuisine Voyage". An avid globetrotter, he dedicates his set menu, which changes every quarter, to a different world city – starting here with São Paulo. In the open kitchen, impressions from his travels are skilfully translated into dishes full of soul and flavour. The chefs also come to your

At this pleasantly lively, modern restaurant on the first floor of the Schweizerhof Passage near the train station, chef Domingo S. Domingo takes you on a culinary journey around the world, also drawing on his Australian and Filipino roots. At lunchtime, options include a small set menu ("Business Lunch") and the "Quicktray" comprising four dishes on one plate. In the evening, guests can choose from the "Domingo Pur Menu Surprise" and "Tavolata" – also available in a large portion to share. The small selection of bowls is available at both mealtimes.

The atmosphere here is one of a kind! Housed in the airy hayloft of a 19C farmhouse with rustic beams, this place has a special feel to it. The tasteful interior is complemented by a secluded garden terrace with trees and shrubs. The food is fresh and made with high-quality ingredients. In the evening, there is a set menu and an à la carte selection. The latter is also available at lunchtime, supplemented by daily specials and a "Business Lunch" option. Excellent wine list featuring plenty of rarities and magnums.
