Oan Tafel

International, Country cooking

€€€

Geert-Jan Vaartjes embraces the Dutch Cuisine philosophy by sourcing 80% of his ingredients from within the Netherlands. In this natural, somewhat rugged restaurant with its welcoming dining counter, the chef showcases local produce with subtle international accents and a penchant for zesty notes. The cauliflower transformed by an Asian-style marinade and a tangy sauerkraut beurre blanc is a highlight. The surprise menu lives up to its name every time. Consider extending your stay by booking one of the Oan Tafel Suites.

Farm to table

One of this neighbourhood restaurant's main assets is its convivial atmosphere. The commitment to quality is palpable on every plate that is brought to your table. Martijn Stroosma serves up beautifully presented dishes that showcase his creativity. This astute chef never goes over the top. For instance, he will mellow the combination of langoustine tail tempura and confit bacon with touches of mango and celeriac. He always strikes the right balance, including in the mouth-watering à la carte and lunch options.
