"Dining at a friend's place" sums the vibe up nicely, and the unique location, for starters, is part of that: The relatively small restaurant is in an apartment on the third floor of a residential and restaurant block. The upscale interior has a modern-minimalist aesthetic feel – art on the walls and a stylish fireplace enhance the visual appeal. The pleasingly intimate feel results not least from the central open kitchen, which means you're right there in the thick of things! Diners are in good hands with chef Christoph Oliver Aebersold and restaurant manager Agron Tunprenkaj – two consummate

The fantastic view of Lake Lucerne alone makes it worthwhile coming here, and it's especially enjoyable from the wonderful terrace! Meanwhile, Fabian Inderbitzin's cuisine is no less sought after. In the evening, two set menus, each with a vegetarian counterpart, are created from outstanding produce. The clear structure of the dishes is pleasing. At lunchtime, the "Gourmet Lunch" set menu and a few classics à la carte form a smaller but equally sophist

With its tasteful blend of historical features and upscale minimalist modern design, this former Capuchin monastery provides a wonderful setting for the restaurant. In the open kitchen, the team champions ingredients from Central Switzerland, supplemented by produce from the Alpine region. The evening features an appealing à la carte selection alongside a four-course "Tavolata" for the whole table, available as a surprise menu or with a main course of your own choice. In summer, the secluded monastery terrace is especially lovely. Breakfast is also served, with a regional "monastery breakfast"

After 33 years, the business has changed hands, but new owners Lukas and Evelyn Christen are committed to keeping the tradition alive. The menu continues to feature both regional and international dishes. The courtyard terrace is especially pleasant. Tip: This pretty restaurant also makes an ideal venue for weddings and other celebrations.

The journey up to the village of Gurtnellen, at an altitude of 935m, is well worth it! The location right by Lake Lucerne is fabulous! This modern bistro shares its premises with the fine dining restaurant and benefits from the same stunning views over the water. The set menu comprises two to six courses, which can also be ordered à la carte. A range of classic dishes is also available. The cuisine is pleasingly accessible without sacrificing elegance.

The manifold dining options available at Bürgenstock Hotel & Alpine Spa include this modern restaurant, which is the perfect choice for fans of Asian cuisine. Premium ingredients go into the Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Indian dishes prepared in an open kitchen. Tip: "Signature Peking duck" (by pre-order only). From the idyllic location overlooking the lake, at over 800m above sea level, the views are sensational – and the terrace is wonderful! Should you prefer to focus your attention on the action in the kitchen, book a table by the kitchen pass.
