This place has evolved from a tapas and wine bar into a "casual fine dining" restaurant. The lovely atmosphere is really neighbourly, almost intimate – you feel welcome right off the bat! This is down to both the appealing bistro setting and the cordial and professional proprietor and sommelier Fabian Fischer. He has a pleasingly personal touch in his dealings with diners and obvious enthusiasm when it comes to recommending the most suitable wine. The list includes over 300 labels, from Germany, Austria and France – with a particular penchant for Riesling. Steven Zeidler is in charge of the ki

Set in a lovely building on a corner plot in the Prenzlauer Berg district, this restaurant has a clean-lined, modern look and a trio of industry professionals with a proven track record at the helm. Owner Silvio Pfeufer (formerly head chef at einsunternull) is in charge of the kitchen, co-owner and maître d' Janine Woltaire heads up the friendly service team – and here she has an experienced sommelier at her side in Michael Stiel – the pair were colleagues at Horváth, another Berlin restaurant. The two set menus (one of which is vegetarian) each comprise five or six courses. Alternatively, you

This Japanese brasserie in a bustling neighbourhood of Prenzlauer Berg entices diners with an interesting range of Japanese specialities in the evenings – including sushi and sashimi, of course. The flambéed toro nigiri, for example, is a treat. Other draws of this place include competent service courtesy of a friendly and down-to-earth front-of-house team, and the pleasingly bright and modern minimalist-style interior, complete with a small sushi counter, where you can see the chefs at work. In summer, the outdoor tables shaded by trees are highly coveted.

Having gained many years of experience in the fine dining sector, Marcel and Miriam Hertrampf have opened this laid-back little restaurant. For starters, the location is lovely: the street lined with tall trees and buzzing with a lively atmosphere has a charm all of its own – the terrace on the wide pavement is especially inviting. In the kitchen, patron Marcel serves up aromatic modern fusion cuisine, drawing on a wealth of culinary influences from Spanish to Asian. The cuisine is predominantly vegetarian, with fish and meat used sparingly. Flavoursome dishes are served as an eight- or 10-cou

Marco Müller’s "Inspiration" tasting menu unfolds as a culinary journey, shaped by a clear personal style and a skilfully constructed narrative arc. The service team explains the ideas behind the dishes in a pleasingly relaxed and informal manner, and is always happy to answer questions. The kitchen works with remarkable precision, yet the cooking retains a sense of effortlessness and balance. With only a few components, the dishes seem minimalist, but are packed with details that lend them exceptional depth. One standout dish is the tender, flawlessly cooked Oldenburg Wagyu with an umami-rich

Surprised to find MICHELIN-starred cuisine in this casual, laid-back restaurant with its "shabby chic" style? Granted, the small space – once home to a kebab shop – does look a little unkempt: in the dimly lit and very simple interior, the tables (without tablecloths) are tightly packed, and the individual furnishing details include vintage elements, some of which date back to the former East Germany. In the open kitchen, Andreas Saul shows remarkable passion, precision, originality and creativity. His cooking, which is regional, proves to be pretty innovative. For instance, his "carrot charcu

"Fine Natural Dining" is the concept here at this inviting restaurant. Charming staff serve up vegan cuisine in the form of a three- to seven-course tasting menu – it's also possible to order à la carte. The buckwheat gnocchi, beetroot and sesame cream serves as a fine example of the intriguing dishes available. Made with seasonal vegetables, the creative, plant-based dishes are packed with flavour, and they are popular with international visitors and locals alike. In summer, the best place to dine is on the terrace out front.

It is worth making your way out to Lichtenberg: up here on the 12th floor of Vienna House Andel's, you have a fantastic view over Berlin. The decor has a chic, urban feel, but also incorporates some striking vintage details, such as the old doors. There are two five-course modern set menus, "Voyage Culinaire" and "Vegetarian"; the former includes, for example, "skrei, celeriac, char caviar" and "flank steak, roasted vegetables, bone marrow". Accompanied, on request, by the perfect wine or alcohol-free pairing. The wine list has an Eastern European focus – you can count on the highly profession
