This fantastic restaurant is actually housed in what was once a piggery. The attractive modern dining area features high ceilings (the hanging herb boxes are an original detail) and an open kitchen. Here, the chefs whip up a vegetarian set menu, which can be extended to include a meat option if desired. Accompanying the dishes (eg "pumpkin & mirabelle" or "celery & beetroot"), small cards provide information about the ingredients, all of which (except for the salt) are sourced within a 25km radius. Far from run-of-the-mill, this is cuisine driven by original ideas, and consistently ecological

On the idyllic grounds of Marbach stud farm, which is steeped in history, the centuries-old steward's house has been turned into a tasteful and cosy restaurant. Here, chef-patron Marc Winter serves up his regional and seasonal dishes, to which he adds just the right dose of modernity. Game is hunted by the chef or his hunter friends to appear in tempting dishes such as roast venison shoulder in juniper cream or cordon bleu of wild boar loin with a hazelnut crumb topping. The menu also includes smaller bites. The lovely terrace commands a view of the surrounding historical buildings including t

The name Gerd Windhösel is synonymous with classic craftsmanship and regional authenticity. He and his wife Silke have run their restaurant – a veritable institution in the Swabian Jura – with great dedication for over 40 years. The chef-patron does the cooking himself, with an emphasis on flavour and select local ingredients forming the DNA of his dishes. Local pasture-raised lamb is used as readily as Seckach trout or Alb saffron. This is classic seasonal cuisine of the highest standard; it demonstrates a pleasingly straightforward style that steers clear of unnecessary frills, while maintai

For the Tress family, everything revolves around organic food, with a focus on vegetarian and vegan cuisine. The complex, carefully considered dishes win diners over with their depth of flavour and aroma – the pea and broad bean tartare, for instance, makes a lasting impression. Meat can be ordered as a side dish – here, they follow the principle of nose-to-tail eating. The portions are kept on the smaller side, so sharing is a good option if you would like to try a variety of dishes. All the wines to accompany this regional cooking are Demeter-certified. It's lovely to sit on the terrace in t

It's no wonder people that love to eat here! In addition to its fine dining restaurant, Hotel Hirsch has its Dorfstube, which is a great option for fans of Swabian cuisine. In the cosy old dining space, completely done out in wood, you can tuck into specialities such as tripe, maultaschen and Zwiebelrostbraten (roast beef with onions). Vegetarian options are also on the menu. The delicious dishes are all made using regional produce. Friendly service. We highly recommend staying overnight. The guestrooms are really lovely and inviting.

Here, the Swabian Jura theme is writ large. The menu changes with the seasons and puts the emphasis on top-quality ingredients, most of which are sourced from the surrounding area. A huge panorama of the Swabian Jura landscape is the most striking feature of the modern yet cosy dining area – it couldn't be more apt. Tip: Given the restaurant's proximity to OUTLETCITY, keen shoppers might consider an overnight stay in one of the hotel's stylish guestrooms.
