The wrought-iron sign of the centuries-old Tanglberg announces the "gallery and restaurant" that lie behind the listed façade, where both contemporary art and good food await you. Maximilian Schellerer presides in the kitchen, serving up a clear cuisine, reduced to the essentials and featuring modern elements. Two five-course set menus are offered. The chef uses high-quality produce, such as fabulously fresh hand-dived scallops from Norway, brought to you pan-fried to perfection and delicately seasoned, or first-rate rack of lamb, herb-crusted with a light and aromatic crumb coating. The spacious two-storey layout with a bar on the upper level adds architectural intrigue. Large windows afford panoramic views of the surroundings. There is also a lovely terrace. For his seasonally inspired five- or six-course set menu, chef Robert Bauer prepares select ingredients, including local produce, to create contemporary cuisine with a cosmopolitan twist. A vegetarian version is available. On Wednesdays and Thursdays the enticing "Genussmenü für zwe

Dating back to 1624, this venerable old building in the centre of Gmunden used to be an inn and is now a boutique hotel and restaurant. Chef Christoph Parzer expertly transforms fresh ingredients into flavoursome dishes that range from regional specialities to modern international cuisine. This interesting mix is presented in the form of an appealing à la carte selection including steaks and Alpine sushi, and the "AURUM" fine dining menu served in the evening. The interior impresses with its attractive blend of traditional elements – such as a tiled oven, a timber ceiling and brick vaulting –
