Guests highly praise the excellent central location near the beach, friendly staff, and an abundant breakfast buffet. Rooms are generally modern and clean, with some sea views. Minor drawbacks include overly soft mattresses, occasional bathroom maintenance gaps, limited in-room information, and price concerns. The stair-only historic building may challenge guests with mobility issues.

A stone's throw from the sea, the restaurant in the small boutique hotel of the same name is impressive in several respects. Inside the smart brick building, the interior design is tasteful and modern, with a visible kitchen and gorgeous views towards the North Sea – the lovely seaside terrace is particularly inviting. Adding to the appeal is Markus Kebschull's wonderful cooking. His style is classic in its foundations, with skilfully incorporated modern influences and a strong emphasis on high-quality seasonal produce. There are two set menus (one of them vegetarian) comprising three to six c

At the restaurant of the New Wave hotel, the food is down-to-earth and delicious, and, while it revolves around the region, it also reveals international twists. On the à la carte menu, one dish that reflects the kitchen's characteristically harmonious flavour combinations is "octopus cooked sous-vide, aioli, olives, house-baked bread". There is also a selection specifically for children. The sleek, modern interior with a maritime feel, an open kitchen and a custom-built table for larger groups, is appealing. Service is cordial and laid-back. In summer, make a beeline for the secluded courtyar

Having earned his spurs at some award-winning restaurants, most recently at Seesteg, owner and head chef Hilko Uphoffis, together with his partner Giulia Casto, is at the helm of this smart restaurant located right next to the Michels Thalasso Hotel Nordseehaus, on the edge of the pedestrian/shopping zone. His classically French cuisine also demonstrates the odd modern flourish, as in the North Sea ling, cooked in nut butter, with lobster ravioli. The restaurant itself is also inviting, with its beautifully bright, pared-down and modern interior, as well as its appealing terrace laid out in fr

Affording unobstructed views of the sea, 1884's exclusive location alone is a major draw. The charming little boutique hotel is a spa-style building complex composed of Villa Mathilde and the adjoining Villa Olga. It is also home to a chic restaurant with modern and minimalist interior design and a fabulous terrace. In the kitchen, Nelson Müller's team prepares flavoursome and pleasingly uncomplicated dishes from fresh, good-quality ingredients. Soul food would be an apt label for this cuisine.

The contemporary ambience in a sleek and at the same time homely style makes for an appealing start – not to mention the terrace with a view of the dike. The food is international and regional, such as fillet of sea bass in bacon butter with wok-fried savoy cabbage. Short lunch menu.
