COB

Creative, Seasonal Cuisine · ★ Michelin

€€€€

COB stands for Cooking Outside the Box – a fitting description for the gastronomic philosophy driving this restaurant. Situated in the upper part of Portorož, it enjoys a magnificent view over the Bay of Piran, in a setting that unites modern, minimalist design with the warmth of a century-old wood-burning stove. At the helm of the kitchen is chef Filip Matjaž, supported by his brother Patrik, who coordinates a service that is both cordial and professional. The tasting menu conceived for 2026 takes Travel as its theme: the chef draws inspiration from countries across the world, reinterpreting

Situated in an attractive location on the seafront promenade in Portorož, this restaurant boasts a classic-style interior with a profusion of wood, square tables and a traditional lay out, plus an attractive summer terrace facing the sea. The well-balanced menu offers plenty of choice, including tasting options and an à la carte, all of which showcase carefully prepared meat and fish dishes. In season, truffles add their unique flavour to various dishes – we particularly enjoyed them served with pumpkin and prawns, as well as in the Mediterranean sea bass dish. An excellent wine list completes

Sophia

Mediterranean Cuisine

Open in the evening, the gourmet restaurant at the exclusive Hotel Palace Portorož offers an elegant tribute to the famous Italian actress Sophia Loren, whose unique beauty was as Mediterranean in style as the flavours that inspire the cuisine served here. Influences from Istria, Italy and even France combine harmoniously on a menu that focuses mainly on fish and seafood from the Adriatic (don’t miss the shellfish), although a few carefully selected, top-quality meat dishes and truffle specialities also feature. The turbot steak with prawns, leek and chive-flavoured extra-virgin olive oil is s

The open grill at this restaurant is a regular feature, delighting guests with a wide array of top-quality meat dishes. From Tomahawk to chops, and fillets to picanha steak (the meat is sourced locally, as well as from further afield), the quality is always excellent, while the service is quick yet friendly and discreet. The large picture windows boast fine views of the surrounding hills, giving guests the pleasant sensation of dining outdoors. There’s also a second dining room with a cosy, minimalist feel, which is perfect for winter evenings. Local, seasonal ingredients take centre stage her

Modern Cuisine, Contemporary

Just off the lively waterfront of Piran, among the houses of the historic centre, the “Old Trattoria” welcomes guests with the fragrance of large pots of aromatic herbs, followed by an elegant and intimate interior of warm, dark tones. The kitchen offers an eight-course tasting menu that interprets the flavours of the territory and the Mediterranean in a modern key, between seasonality and creative impetus. The wine list is noteworthy, with over 500 labels, complemented by a selection of spirits and cocktails.

Restavracija Hotela Marina

Mediterranean Cuisine, Seafood

€€

The position is undoubtedly one of the restaurant’s greatest assets: directly facing the marina, with large windows overlooking the sea. The kitchen, firmly oriented towards seafood, is fresh, careful, and genuine, in the spirit of “from the sea to the plate.” The menu follows the availability of the day, in full respect of seasonality and the catch. Shellfish, reef fish, and pasta dishes with original dressings compose an offering that is classic yet full of taste, further elevated by the use of local extra-virgin olive oil, also from the restaurant’s own production.
