Guest scores & sentiment

From 76 guest reviews · multi-source · as of 2026-07-21

Guests consistently praise the central location near the train station, overall cleanliness, and convenient app-based check-in. However, many note that rooms are very small, bathrooms are cramped with outdated fixtures, the entry app occasionally fails, and soundproofing is poor. Some also report maintenance issues like odors and worn furnishings.

Dating back to the 16C, Löwen is a lovely traditional inn that has been run by Tanja and Franco Körperich since 2019. She takes care of the service in the charming and elegant wood-panelled dining space on the first floor, and Franco is at the helm in the kitchen. Diners sit at elegantly laid tables to savour a surprise menu comprising four to eight courses, with vegetarian options available if pre-ordered. Top-quality ingredients go into classic dishes that draw on modern and international influences. A shining example is the gently barbecued and mildly spiced king prawn, accompanied by light

Johanna Hagen and Christopher Knippschild are your congenial hosts here – she is an attentive maître d' with an easy charm; the chef, who has experience at some top-flight establishments (including Gustav and mesa in Zurich and Maaemo in Oslo) under his belt, cooks up modern, seasonal cuisine. Changing on a monthly basis, the set menu comes in seven, six or five courses and features dishes such as yellowtail mackerel with celery, ponzu, wasabi and caviar, and saddle of lamb with morels, peas and bitter lettuce. Wine pairings are also available. The atmosphere is welcoming, reminiscent of a pri

Thomas Huber, representing the 13th generation of his family, and Monika Jans run the long-established Krone with great dedication. She is responsible for the cordial and professional service, and he takes care of things in the kitchen, cooking up seasonal, traditionally influenced dishes. Tableside preparation features prominently, particularly for larger cuts of meat or whole fish for two or more diners. They will also prepare a creatively inspired set menu if you order in advance, and a children's menu is available as well. Anticipation builds from the moment you arrive: freshly baked bread

This gorgeous building, which started out as an inn in 1708, boasts an idyllic location just a few metres from the shore of Zugersee. Run by a mother-and-son team, the restaurant serves classic cuisine, with fish from the lake playing an important role, for example. A fine dining menu is also available, and in summer the charcoal barbecue is put to work. The service is charming and professional, and the atmosphere in the dining area is cosy. The fantastic terrace is understandably popular – it's wonderful to sit in the shade of the large trees and drink in the view of the lake!

In this gorgeous inn, a winning father-and-daughter team conjures up modern takes on classic dishes. They propose a surprise menu – slightly cheaper at lunchtime than in the evening. Incidentally, they smoke the salmon themselves. If you would like a vegetarian menu, please indicate this when making your reservation. Well-stocked wine list. Tip: Across the road, there is a terrace shaded by plane trees, right by Lake Zug and with a view of the Rigi – in fine weather the sunsets are magical!
