Paolo Griffa al Caffè Nazionale

Creative, Italian Contemporary · ★ Michelin

€€€€

A historic city restaurant, overlooking Aosta's main square, has been brought back to life by the passion of young chef Paolo Griffa. It offers colourful, balanced and contemporary cuisine, available in 3, 5 or 7-course tasting menus. Always attentive to the harmony of flavours and chromatic beauty of dishes, the chef demonstrates a growing skill in handling vegetables, as evidenced by the vegetarian dishes always on the menu. The service is of an excellent standard and the wine offerings of great depth. Of course, as the name suggests, some spaces are dedicated to excellent coffee, equipped w

€€€€

Despite its central location and elegant ambience, this former 17C mill, which has retained its old wheel and millstone in the dining room, has the feel of the open mountains. The excellent service here is overseen by Paolo Bariani, one of the partners, who is also responsible for the 300 or so wines in the cellar. The wine list features a careful balance of famous names and small wineries, with wines also available by the glass. The second partner, chef Filippo Oggioni, is at the helm in the kitchen, where he skilfully showcases the flavours and traditions of the Aosta valley with a modern tw

This is an exquisite gem within one of the region's most renowned and romantic hotels, the Bellevue Hotel & Spa, holder of two Michelin keys. With just five tables, two of which overlook the valley ending spectacularly with Gran Paradiso, Tuscan chef Niccolò de Riu celebrates the Valle d'Aosta in his kitchen with very few deviations, char and roe deer being excellent examples. Following the savoury part of the meal and preceding the talented pastry chef, Roberto from Bergamo will challenge your resistance with an excellent cheese cart, featuring mainly regional cheeses. The wine selection is excellent, focusing mainly on the Aosta Valley, with over 100 different labels, many of which are available by the glass. €€

This restaurant is situated in an alleyway in the historic centre of Aoste. Full of character and accessed via a staircase from the entrance hall, the dining room is housed in what were probably the palazzo’s 18C stables. Under a brick-vaulted ceiling and arches, enjoy cuisine from the Aosta valley with a creative twist.

Modern Cuisine, Cuisine from the Aosta Valley

€€€€

Situated in the heart of Saint Vincent, this restaurant has the feel of an old granary (“grenier” in the Aosta valley dialect) with an open fireplace, sheaves of wheat hanging from the ceiling, and old tools on the walls. In this surprising setting, the Mazzotti brothers’ cuisine delights guests with carefully prepared and unexpectedly modern dishes, including home-made bread, specialities from the Aosta Valley and traditional Italian dishes (a few fish options also feature on the menu). The extensive wine list showcases a selection of carefully chosen labels from the region.
