Housed inside Krone is this pleasant, cosy and down-to-earth restaurant that is also run by the Wölfelschneider family. The Gaststube menu will appeal to those who appreciate regional, home-style cooking, a case in point being the fillet of Odenwald trout on a bed of leek and chanterelle mushrooms with a cider and herb sauce. Mediterranean influences can also be detected on the menu. In addition to the delicious food, a highlight is the friendly service, which contributes to the congenial atmosphere. In summer, the terrace is idyllic!

The inn has been in the Restel family since 1969 and is now run by the second generation. Their consistently high level of dedication is crystal clear in the delicious, seasonally inspired cuisine. The à la carte dishes and set menu are complemented by a well-curated wine list featuring local wines. The friendly service is a bonus, and a table on the leafy terrace is also a lovely option. They have nice guestrooms, should you care to stay longer.

You will feel at home here for a number of reasons. Not only can you enjoy the modern, classic and seasonal cuisine showcasing local produce, but there is also the friendly, attentive service that comes courtesy of the owner and her team, who also know their way around the wine list. The elegantly pared-down interior is equally inviting, not to mention the beautiful garden with shaded seating that draws diners in summer. This destination is sought after for all the right reasons, from its cosy, rustic interior and charming courtyard to the friendly service. Not least, the seasonal cuisine wins diners over with its freshness and flavour – take, for instance, the roast wild boar served with house-made potato dumplings. Chef-patron Klaus Markert champions honest craftsmanship and quality, complemented by a fine selection of regional wines. Tip: Try the estate's own premium schnapps. Charming guestrooms are available, and breakfast features house-made fruit preserves.

Armed with an impressive CV, chef-patron Moritz Techet presents his modern, creative concept here. Diners are treated to a surprise menu comprising 10 smaller or larger courses, each one technically polished and precisely executed. Each dish is pared down to the essentials and based on select, predominantly regional ingredients. The restaurant maintains its own herb garden, they forage for mushrooms and berries, and employ fermentation and preservation techniques. Vegetarian cuisine is at the fore. The charming and dedicated waitstaff are led by Jansý Frederiksberg and assisted by the chefs, w

African produce enriches the cuisine, which is international in character. Wood carvings and trophies from the country where the dishes originated are interesting to look at.

The location – the beautiful grounds of a centuries-old monastery estate surrounded by nature – is the very epitome of peace and quiet. Oozing historical, rustic charm, the restaurant serves classic, seasonal cuisine with a distinct modern influence. You can order à la carte or opt for the set menu (up to six courses). The service is competent and friendly. The terrace with a view of the Odenwald forest is particularly pleasant, and the well-stocked vaulted wine cellar dating back to 1524 is also worth seeing. For an overnight stay, the Der Schafhof hotel has well-kept guestrooms. Be sure to t
