Restaurant Wolfslaar

Modern French · ★ Michelin

€€€€

The Wolfslaar experience begins as soon as you drive onto the magnificent estate. As you approach the former coach house, you will be struck by the natural beauty of your surroundings, which you can enjoy to the full on the terrace. The chic and elegant interior exudes a warmth that comes courtesy of luxury materials such as walnut and marble. In this enchanting setting, Maarten Camps takes you on an exciting adventure, in which each ingredient is thoughtfully prepared in a multitude of ways. He throws in Asian flavours to add depth to his creative process, for instance seasoning hand-cut beef

Restaurant Chocolat

World Cuisine, Creative French

€€

Chasse Botanique, a former barracks converted into a business centre, is the charming home of Chocolat. You enter through the conservatory where tropical plants grow, and then find yourself immersed in the Chocolat atmosphere in the stylish restaurant. This applies not only to the colour of the décor, but also to Dorus Clement's creative cuisine. He plays with a rich palette of flavours and likes to introduce exotic seasonings into dishes with French flair. For example, he seasons hamachi with yuzu, ponzu and sweet melon, but he also pimps beef tenderloin with a brown stock perfumed with black

Bleue Bar Bistro

French, Modern Cuisine

€€

Rather inconspicuously located on Grote Markt, there is a distinctly Parisian feel to this bistro with a predominantly green colour scheme. The long bar with ceramic tiles and open kitchen with green panelling make for an inviting setting. As you might expect, the menu features French bistro fare with the odd fresh twist – for instance, the chef incorporates kumquat into the rich duck jus that accompanies pan-fried duck breast and orange compote, without compromising the dish's signature flavours. The house-made pâté en croûte is certainly tempting. Full flavours guaranteed!

Amí Bistro

Modern French

€€€

Located in an imposing building in the centre of Breda, this bistro exudes elegance and charm. The kitchen on the upper floor catches your eye as soon as you enter. The kitchen team handles the finest ingredients with sensibility. Their cuisine is distinctive and ambitious. Highlights of the menu include steak tartare or whole turbot. Scallops are paired with a foie gras cream, crushed hazelnuts and a rice wine and vinegar sauce infused with yuzu. Be sure to explore the tempting wine list!

Osteria Porta Sud

Italian, Modern Cuisine

€€€

Walk through the heritage Passage Zuidpoort and you will come to this fine example of Dutch interwar architecture. The first impression is enchanting: curved woodwork, the bar, the tiled floor and the colourful glass details. Yonna and Ralph keep their modern osteria intimate to preserve its Italian soul. Quality ingredients and those characteristic Mediterranean nuances are prepared with finesse and a contemporary edge. Highlights include a vibrant and unique take on vitello tonnato with the depth of a veal-jus-based vinaigrette and house-made agnolotti stuffed with mushroom, chestnut and haz

Pouwe

€€

In the sleepy village of Hoeven, Walter and Vivian Pouwe greet diners with true Brabantian hospitality. Their modern, intimate restaurant boasts a striking open kitchen and a rear terrace that provides a pleasant setting for relaxed dining. The chef incorporates ingredients such as yuzu, tandoori and vadouvan into creative dishes that pack a punch. One highlight is the carpaccio of red and yellow tomato, lavishly adorned with artichoke, roasted pine nuts, confit Padrón peppers and a silky emulsion of oil and grated Manchego. After all those rich flavours, be sure to sample something from the c

Restaurant Markant

French, Classic Cuisine

€€

This cosy little establishment outside Breda city centre bears its name well. The fact that the staff take great pleasure in spoiling their diners is palpable. Decorative features such as wine crates show that Markant is driven by a passion for wine as well as food. Be sure to take a look at the wine list, which features all sorts of great finds, before perusing the extensive à la carte menu. The young chef's repertoire includes classics such as œuf en gelée, as well as vegetarian options and the occasional Asian-influenced creation. His attention to quality is evident in the generosity of fla

Restaurant Uijttewaal

French Contemporary

€€€

Chef Sven Uijttewaal warmly welcome you into his chic and stylish establishment. A timeless interior design and a tasteful blend of warm tones combine to create a pleasant atmosphere. His fresh cuisine follows current trends, as demonstrated by the signature amuse-bouche – an ode to his grandfather, who owned a pickle company: a refreshing sweet-and-sour piccalilli sorbet served with sweet-and-sour pickle creams and a carrot coulis finished with dill oil. The menu intrigues from start to finish (they also serve lunch), with dishes such as steak tartare with ponzu or a delicate pairing of sole
