A culinary experience in every sense! From the moment you enter you are guided through a surprising sequence of flavours and sensations that include stunning appetisers in the garden and the Living Lab, a collaborative space in which the restaurant grows and revives native species that are almost extinct (’Ciezana’ aubergine, ‘Flor de Baladre’ tomato, cowpea, etc.). You then continue to the spectacular modern dining room with its surprising setting in a huge thatched hut. Here, you savour main dishes, with fantastic dishes such as Panaché of vegetables and langoustines (a wonderful tribute to

Almo de Juan Guillamón
Mediterranean Cuisine, Contemporary · ★ Michelin
€€€
A restaurant, with plenty of character, which extols the virtue of Mediterranean cuisine without closing its eyes to influences from elsewhere and which pulls out all the stops to ensure an authentic gourmet experience. Behind its floor-to-ceiling windows, the impression is of a young and contemporary eatery on two floors with a focus on market-inspired cuisine, featuring classic food pairings with an unfettered global approach. Chef Juan Guillamón allows himself full licence to introduce flavours acquired on his travels: for six seasons he worked as a chef for the Ferrari motor racing team, a

This centrally located restaurant opposite the church of San Lorenzo, in an attractive venue that catches the eye with its towering arch and exposed brick walls, gastronomy is viewed as its own language and each of its dishes as a sentence ('frase' in Spanish) that tells a story which, where possible, is connected to personal memories and local history. The project is headed by María Egea and Marco Antonio Iniesta, with the former in charge of the front of house and the latter the kitchen. The elegance with which the concepts of roots and tradition are brought up to date comes as a pleasant su

If you’re looking for something different you’ll find it here, as the focus of the couple in charge (María and Miguel Ángel) is on fusion cooking that combines the flavours of India, Morocco, France, Japan etc. The spacious restaurant, in the central Plaza de San Juan, as well as an unmistakeable appearance thanks to a striking yellow door that provides access to this relaxed bistro. The à la carte, with its strong focus on sharing, is surprising for its so-called “Bocados del Mundo”, which are complemented by a section entitled “Algo más Serio” (Something More Serious, featuring some of their

María José and Pedro are the tandem behind this unique restaurant, located next to the Madina Mursiya Interpretation Centre. In fact, it looks out onto it through an interior window. Here, in a refurbished space that surprises both for its design and its irregular puzzle-piece shaped wooden tables, the menu is steered towards simple yet well-executed Mediterranean cooking supported by top-quality ingredients. The dishes, designed for sharing, reflect their work in an à la carte that evolves with the season and is delivered in an envelope (they recommend choosing 5 to get a complete experience)

This Japanese restaurant, with a somewhat austere appearance and an impressive bar, has an uncompromising and full focus on Asian cuisine, with a menu featuring the usual array of raw options complemented by a full repertoires of hot dishes which are well crafted and presented. We can recommend the Omakase surprise menu, prepared using the best ingredients available on the day.

Polea is impressively run by a couple who decided to return to Spain (the homeland of the female half of the partnership) after many years working abroad. Behind its highly original façade, featuring green azulejos and thick esparto blinds, discover a rustic-contemporary ambience featuring a small bar and a partially open-view kitchen. Polea’s cooking is based around a single, thoroughly modern and highly personal tasting menu that takes its focus from locally sourced seasonal ingredients, with some dishes inspired by its own garden and incorporating various influences from elsewhere (especial

In this intimate eatery with a traditional ambience, you have the guarantee of a family with a longstanding reputation in the restaurant business, but can also witness the astute and more modern hand of those who like to do things differently. The culinary focus of chef Miguel Hernández, showcased on an à la carte and an impressive tasting menu, reflects the full favours of Murcian cooking, as well as refined textures, meticulous presentation, and the championing of locally grown vegetables and the latest culinary techniques. One standout dish that caught our eye was the delicious shrimp tarta
