Da Mimmo is the epitome of Italian sophistication. As soon as you venture over the threshold of this stylish restaurant and meet the charismatic maître d', you know you are in good hands! Chef Louis Verstrepen and his team craft beautifully plated dishes that embody a creative approach to Italian culinary tradition, calling upon consummate technique and spot-on precision. Take a seat at the undulating counter, beneath the striking carved wooden tree, a tribute to nature, and enjoy the show as you admire the handiwork of the painstaking kitchen team. Menssa offers an all-round global experience and Christophe Hardiquest endeavours to share his vision of sustainable gastronomy, respect for producers and nature with diners. The experienced chef harnesses his knowhow and inventiveness to promoting his region. His knack for pairing mushrooms with a subtle blend of bitter coffee, smoked and marinated egg yolk and a vegetable emulsion demonstrates both his ethos and c

De Maurice à Olivier

french · Bib

€€

Amusingly, you have to walk past Maurice’s newsagents before reaching the Parisian-inspired bistro of his son, Olivier. Gallic tradition characterises both the service and the food. Dishes include fork-tender, juicy turbot cooked on the bone, with mushrooms, a light frothy mousseline with a hint of acidity and a white wine sauce. The chef may add the occasional original note, sometimes courtesy of exquisite plating, but he remains a diehard champion of traditional gourmet fare. A well-stocked wine cellar and a splendid choice of cigars and whiskeys round off this enticing portrait.

Bottega Vannini

Italian

€€

This lively bottega doubles as a delicatessen, so you tuck into your meal surrounded by shelves of Italian delicacies (be sure to stop by the counter afterwards). Expect no frills here, just unadulterated Mediterranean flavours. Their take on beloved classics like vitello tonnato and saltimbocca alla romana showcases the full potential of these dishes. Or how about perfectly al dente cavatelli pasta with succulent sausage meat and crunchy niebé beans? Accompanied by interesting wines (corkage fee €15). Irresistibly authentic!

Sanzaru

Behind the Cubist-inspired façade lies a pleasant, airy, colourful establishment devoted to creativity. The chef reverently respects the season in dishes that subtly draw on influences from all four corners of the earth. An example: a characteristic caprese salad to start is given a crisp modern perspective courtesy of surprising textures, while pollock cooked in butter is served with mashed potato and leek-flavoured ice cream. The contents of the various surprise menus (including vegetarian) are pleasantly true to their names and there is an attractive lunchtime formula. You can expect a scor

Villa Singha

Thai, Asian · Bib

€€

Villa Singha has been upholding and celebrating Thai traditions for over thirty years. A characteristic Thai decor and references to the mythological lion, Singha, set the exotic scene, further enhanced by an extensive succulent menu. Crispy Popiah fried spring rolls, Thai dumplings stuffed with ground pork or fried cod in a ginger chili sauce are a few of the generously crafted and spicy, yet balanced dishes. A word of advice – don’t forget to book, although, if the worse comes to the worst, you can always order a take-away!

The Bacchetta family has been regaling diners since 1972 in their stylish establishment. You will taste the best of fine Italian fare in the company of a loyal band of regulars. Chef Olivier delves into Mediterranean tradition, adding a creative spin that combines visual flair and a love of contrasts. His veal alla Milanese and his asparagus risotto are second to none. The lunchtime set menu is a firm favourite with the regulars.
