It’s located on a narrow cobbled street in the historic centre, relatively close to the castle that dominates the city. Its modest façade gives way to a not-too-large but cosy rustic-style space, whose décor revolves around the world of bullfighting. Here, you’ll find traditional cuisine specialising in meats, almost always featuring a dish made from fighting bull in honour of the Forcados, a typical art of Portuguese bullfighting that both the owner and his father practised successfully. Try their famous fighting bull kebab and, if possible... don’t miss the Portuguese stew (cozido) served up

If you’re thinking of trying fried sweetbreads, a chunk of veal, wood-fired slow-cooked chanfana (goat stew), or even confit pork cheeks from black pigs, there’s no better place than Casa do Chef Victor Felisberto. The specialty here is meat, cooked — mostly slowly — in a wood-fired oven, ensuring extremely succulent textures and deeper flavours. Additionally, the restaurant’s incredible signature fondants, as well as the bread baked in the same oven, should not be forgotten. With experience in renowned restaurants, the chef strives to share his interpretation of regional cuisine, blending tra

A restaurant located on the outskirts of Estremoz, on a wine estate (Herdade das Servas) surrounded by vineyards that have been owned by the Serrano Mira family for 13 generations and date back to 1667. The dining space, which is full of character thanks to its vaulted ceiling and fireplace, is keen to combine Alentejan cuisine with touches of modernity. Typical dishes on the menu here include partridge escabeche, dried figs and toasted Alentejo bread; wild boar with rice and mushrooms; and deconstructed cod “à brás” with “molecular” olives. Added bonuses are the pleasant terrace and wines pro

This centrally located restaurant with a welcoming feel comes as something of a surprise, as it is accessed via a bar- gourmet shop that has the feel of an authentic grocery store. In the rustic-contemporary dining room, featuring exposed wood beams and even a table for two in the fireplace, choose from an extensive menu combining regionally inspired dishes (crispy prawns, scrambled eggs, different black pork recipes) with those with a more international feel, all of which are prepared with a subtle, modern touch. Cheese, sausages and wine from the Estremoz area are available for purchase in t

Located in the historic heart of Estremoz, also known as the “white city” because of its fascinating marbles, this restaurant offers a cosy and intimate ambience, where warm, pure colours create a welcoming atmosphere. From the dining room, it is possible to observe the kitchen in action and see the dishes being crafted, presented in a menu based on sharing plates and two tasting menus (6 and 8 courses). The cuisine on offer ranges from signature dishes and comfort food prepared in a traditional wood oven, with options that change daily.

This restaurant is situated in Marvão, a village at the highest point of the Serra de São Mamede, just a few kilometres from the Spanish border. It occupies a small house that has been completely remodelled by Diogo Branco, a chef from Porto, and Daniel Boto, a native of this region. The concise à la carte here changes constantly according to the seasons and availability from local producers. Three main dishes are always available: one vegetarian, one meat, and one fish or seafood.

A small yet highly authentic property with lots of mementoes of those who lived in this area in the past, a time when this restaurant was no more than a simple “tasca”. Entry is through a door reminiscent of days gone by, which gives an indication of what you’ll find inside –a space that showcases the simplicity of another era. The menu comes courtesy of award-winning chef Rodrigo Castelo, who is renowned for keeping the traditions of Portuguese cuisine alive, while always adding his own personal touch to proceedings. Dishes such as the oxtail croquettes, the “arroz de tomate” served with a fi
