Chef Tommy and maître d' Vera have given their charming premises in the centre of Utrecht a stylish makeover. Soft mood lighting contributes to an intimate feel, understated design has a soothing effect and a large mural enlivens the space. Vera runs the dining room with effortless grace; Tommy presents a passionate tribute to his terroir through his dishes. Vegetables, sourced as locally as possible, play a central role (a vegetarian set menu is also available). This is a chef who cooks with great precision, shows a deft touch in applying fresh acidic notes and skilfully plays with temperatur

Leave Utrecht's bustling city centre behind for a while and let yourself be swept away by Karel 5's medieval charm. Luxury meets authenticity in this historical oasis, where you can admire old paintings and sculptures as you dine beneath crystal chandeliers, and, when the weather is fine, have lunch on the beautiful garden terrace. Leon Mazairac and his team conjure up cuisine that does justice to the setting, for a true fine dining experience. Game from the Veluwe, Belgian endive, saffron from Herentals: Chef Mazairac makes a point of working only with top-quality produce that he sources as l

Pure and honest. These two words encapsulate this vibrant place, though they hardly do it justice. Joyce and Victor's deep respect for the seasons and Dutch produce is truly inspiring. They work closely with their suppliers and encourage chef Josephien Blom to be creative within the framework of their sustainable values. The pig's trotters with a tangy remoulade sauce is a classic of the house, but she also gives potatoes a surprising twist with a seaweed sauce and crispy serrated wrack. Prepare to be amazed!

Tradition, a street food influence, authenticity and purity are the words that best sum up this popular restaurant, which showcases the full array of Indonesian cuisine. The rijsttafel (a medley of dishes with rice – also available in a vegan version) provides an excellent opportunity to discover the chef's talent for seasoning and balancing intense flavours. From the succulence of the lamb, the distinctly nutty flavour of the peanut sauce and the delicate spiciness of the gado gado, you can see that this is a chef who knows how to combine generosity with subtlety. Be sure to try the roast goa

Admire the grandeur of this fully restored 17C château as you take the road up, walk across the little bridge and immerse yourself in its attractive blend of historical features and contemporary luxury. Heemstede Castle is an exceptional and enchanting location, and in Ollie Schuiling it has a very talented chef at the helm. You can expect a few surprises on the wine list, including some sought-after gems from Europe, as well as a nod to the Netherlands. The wines perfectly complement the intense flavours of the chef's dishes. Exceptionally fresh top-quality produce, sublime sauces and inventi

Utrecht's city park is an ideal spot to unwind, and where better to do that than in this stylish restaurant with its authentic thatched roof and idyllic terrace overlooking the magnificent lake? Wilhelminapark has been a fixture since 1926, and you'll notice that right away. The chef wins diners over with both a rather classic fish dish accompanied by a rich beurre blanc and a steak tartare with an Asian twist. The wine pairings are equally impressive. Or just drop in to enjoy a drink and some delicious oysters.

This restaurant has a laid-back and refreshingly natural feel; its name reflects chef Niels van Zijl's deep emotional connection to his hometown (Heimat) of Utrecht. Furthermore, it highlights his unwavering attention to the provenance of his ingredients. He makes a point of working with local suppliers and lets vegetables take centre stage, but fish and meat options are also available. His cuisine is creative and light. For instance, he ferments roasted potato skins to create a dashi, the base for an airy steamed chawanmushi. Stewed leeks, ramson oil, chive florets and tangy tobiko lend deep

Located on Utrecht's Biltstraat, this stylish restaurant is in keeping with its lively and inviting surroundings. Alex Zeelenberg likes to keep the courses of his set menu a secret right up until they are served, and they never fail to impress. Whether he is spicing up a pan-fried pink duck breast with a harissa-infused poultry stock, seasoning a lentil beignet with Middle Eastern spices or incorporating the sweet earthiness of beetroot into a dessert, his creativity will take your taste buds on a voyage. Their commitment to sustainability, both in the dishes and the overall dining experience,
