The Classical building of the Chateau de Frontiere, which cuts a fine, stately figure, is named after the erstwhile Austria-Morovia border. High vaulted ceilings supported by columns and sleek design create a picture of elegance, in keeping with the stylish location. Large arched windows afford a view onto the property's gardens. The set menu showcases precise modern creations made with regional and seasonal ingredients – they even grow their own vegetables. Good examples of dishes are "grasscarp, bacon, thyme" or "lentil, nduja, celery". To accompany the food, they have excellent wines to rec

La Villa

A really lovely restaurant located slightly above the town… and it's not just the interior that is elegant and stylish – the food certainly holds its own. The classic/French-based dishes are subtly polished by the chef, as he brings in regional influences; this approach works particularly well with the saddle of fallow deer, for example. The best way to experience the handiwork of the kitchen is to opt for the set menu, "Le Pin". A vegetarian set menu is also available. At midday they only offer a simple lunch menu with two or three courses. Convenient: parking in front of the establishment.

The restaurant is a little way out of the city centre, but the journey south of Brno is worth it. They serve international cuisine with traditional, French, Mediterranean and Far Eastern influences. Chef Michal Černý and his team prepare both à la carte dishes and a seven-course tasting menu. Fresh ingredients go into flavoursome dishes such as "Spicy Thai soup, shrimp, oyster fungus" or "Mushroom risotto, Pecorino mousse, rocket salad" and "Confit of veal cheek, dill velouté, Carlsbad dumplings". When it comes to wine, the spotlight is on the Czech region of Moravia; the additional rum menu i

A cool location right in the centre. The Bistro, accommodated in a centuries-old building, is accessible via the impressive glass-roofed atrium courtyard, which boasts an inviting terrace. The tables laid out inside, where a relaxed atmosphere reigns, are also appealing. The space, done out in a trendy, pared-back decor, has a small bar and open kitchen, as well as eye-catching vaulted ceilings and art. The menu is small but enticing, and includes, for instance, steak or Italian influences. It is also possible to drop in just for a cocktail or glass of wine.

This charming modern restaurant on the premises of the House of Arts is a cosy setting. The names of artists who, through donations, have contributed to the upkeep of the establishment are displayed on the ceiling. Wine plays an important role here, as the eye-catching floor-to-ceiling wine store suggests. As well as two tasting menus and a vegetarian set menu, there is an à la carte selection. The terrific wine list focuses on the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Hungary. They also use the Coravin wine system. Tip: Be sure to reserve, especially on weekends – they get fully booked quickly.

This restaurant boasts a gorgeous location in a small park near the centre. Sleek and chic design, high ceilings and large windows make for an airy atmosphere. As the name suggests, the focus here is on meat and different steaks. You choose the size and how you would like it cooked – the kitchen takes care of the rest. There is a variety of side dishes and sauces to accompany the meat.

Lively and very much on trend, this restaurant enjoys a very central location in the city. Beyond the bar by the entrance (ideal for a cocktail), the dining space has an urban, industrial feel and features an open kitchen. The modern dishes created here – such as "grilled pork belly, ginger spinach, fermented black bean sauce" and "zander filet, confit leek, bean purée, parsley, Jerusalem artichoke" – are visually appealing and impress with their quality and bold flavours.

You'll feel as if you've been whisked away to the Mediterranean! The menu features tempting dishes such as "shrimp confit, potato, saffron aioli, radish", "gnocchi, mushrooms, pine nuts, beetroot, goat cheese, herbs" or "boar, cream, cranberries, semolina". Simply order à la carte, or opt for one of the tasting menus compiled from the same options. The delicious food can be accompanied by something from the extensive wine list, which features European labels, including some big names.
