Trollinger Hof

First opened as a bakery 100 years ago, this family-run establishment is now in its fourth generation. Hans-Jörg Dunker and his team have long been synonymous with quality and Westphalian cuisine with an international twist. The restaurant interior is attractive and cheerful, having been given a skilful modern makeover, but care has been taken to leave the traditional character of the building intact. One of the chef's specialities is the wonderful fish and shellfish soup with aioli, bread and Parmesan. A gorgeous terrace for summer. There is also a charming hall available for festivities.

Bearing its name of old, this modern restaurant carries on the tradition of the original 19C Zum Adler inn. Today it is lovely and light inside, with a smart and minimalist decor. The focus lies squarely on high-quality meat, such as Wagyu beef steak. Fish and vegan options also available. At lunchtime there is a smaller offer with a reasonably priced lunch menu - but you can also choose from the steak menu.

This restaurant takes its name from the half-timbered façade of Hotel Stadt Kassel, in which it is housed. Located in the town centre, the building dates back to the 17C. The cosy interior is a harmonious blend of modern design and historical elements such as exposed wooden beams and brickwork. In this setting, contemporary seasonal cuisine is served as a three- to five-course set menu or à la carte. To top it all off, you have a friendly and dedicated front-of-house team, as well as an exceptional wine list comprising over 1 500 labels, including some outstanding Rieslings from Germany.
