Old Greek House

Country cooking, Turkish · Bib

Yes, this is indeed an old Greek house from the 19C, and what a beauty it is! The striking façade with its distinctive traditional balcony, the arcaded courtyard adorned with old frescoes and the open dining area under a canopy of vine leaves make you feel as though you've wandered onto a 1970s film set. Brimming with charm, this is also a true family-run establishment – several members of the Özturk family were even born within these walls. In the kitchen, the matriarch prepares dishes that blend Turkish tradition with Greek influences. A crisp seasonal salad with just enough vinegar and the

This simply appointed restaurant is nestled in the charming university town of Mustafapaşa. The Gorgoli Valley is just nearby, and for the chef it's a privileged source of all manner of produce. The extensive menu reflects his deep respect for his terroir and local culinary tradition. Aubergine and peppers are grilled just right for a rich smoky-sweet starter; lamb is slow-cooked to succulent perfection and served with a creamy wheat risotto. Nothing is overworked – every dish is a celebration of true flavour.

The valley spreads before you with wild flowers, apricot and plum trees and rugged rocks – with such a breathtaking view, securing a table on the terrace of this traditional house is a must. Ayşe and Adem Koçdemir have an intimate relationship with their terroir and work almost exclusively with local ingredients, including produce from their own garden. Dishes are presented on wonderful terracotta tableware: delicacies such as a tomato broth with peppers and olive oil that tastes both sweet and subtly confit, accompanied by cracked bulgur and fantastic Turkish bread. Then there are the stuffed

Welcome to the home of the Yazgan family, which they have transformed into a boutique hotel with a restaurant. Today, the third generation is at the helm, bringing their own vision to the establishment. At the charming Aravan Evi, the kitchen garden is the primary source of produce, and diners are occasionally invited to stroll through it – it's a passion that the chefs are happy to share. Whether freshly picked, pickled or cooked in the wood-fired oven, vegetables and fruit are elevated here in remarkable ways, with an emphasis on punchy and tangy flavours. Take the dried apricots stuffed wit
