One of England's original 13th Century Coaching Inns located in the historic, picturesque town of Woodstock. The town is home to Blenheim Palace as well as many fine boutiques, art galleries, furniture and antique shops. Woodstock is also at the gateway to the Cotswolds, close to Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon. With its ivy clad façade, oak beams, stonewalls and open fires, the Bear exudes warmth and cosiness, perfect for a retreat. The award winning 2 AA rosette restaurant offers modern British cuisine and each of the 54 bedrooms are well appointed, many of which are feature rooms, four posters and suites with period furnishings, original stone walls, and exposed oak beamsPlease note that the hotel doesn't accept any cash payments

A gorgeously refurbished property, its elegant style extends to the chic dining room, where the building’s 17th-century features are blended with a light pastel palette. The space oozes character, boasting flagged floors, timbered ceilings, plenty of exposed golden stone and twin open fires. There is a relaxed and intimate feel to the place, and an understated quality to the tersely described dishes that simply let the first-rate ingredients shine, such as cod with smokey kipper sauce and juicy leeks. The bar and dining areas ooze charm and character, with exposed Cotswold stone walls and crackling log fires among the many appealing features. Many ingredients come from their sister operation, Daylesford Organic Farm, and are used in comforting, full-flavoured dishes like Cornish fish pie.
