Casa Perbellini 12 Apostoli
Creative, Contemporary · ★★★ Michelin
€€€€
Verona’s quintessential historic and elegant restaurant, this is where Chef Perbellini, already two-starred at a previous location, achieved the coveted three stars. Expect a sumptuous, refined setting, rich with color and historical references, paired with extraordinary cuisine expressed through three tasting menus, with dishes also available à la carte. “Io e Silvia” showcases the chef’s latest creations; choose “L’Essenza” for a vegetarian journey; while “Storie di Casa” presents the chef’s signature dishes in a contemporary key. But there is yet another option: the chef’s table, in effect

Within an extraordinary palazzo in the historic center, the experience begins in the fifteenth-century cellars, where an amuse-bouche is served in an evocative atmosphere before guests ascend to the sixteenth-century dining room. Amid frescoes, exposed stone, and brick, with the open kitchen visible at the far end, this ranks among the most elegant restaurants in the region. At the stove, Giacomo Sacchetto offers several tasting menus, with dishes that may be freely selected from one list or another. Both seafood and land-based offerings, elaborate and creative, leave the mark of a thrilling g

The osteria as envisioned by celebrated three-Michelin-starred chef Giancarlo Perbellini: a place, indeed, a “world,” where guests can savor fragrant Italian classics and vegetarian options in a relaxed atmosphere at remarkably honest prices, complemented by an excellent selection of wines by the glass. The inspector enjoyed: pasta reale in capon broth, Amarone-braised beef cheek with potato purée and fried leek. Right in the city center, tucked along a side street off Via Mazzini, diners may choose between the intimate indoor dining room and the alfresco terrace (weather permitting!).

A classic, historic restaurant to which one returns time and again with great pleasure. No contrived or artificial creativity here, just traditional cooking that is reassuring and substantial. Among the must-try dishes: creamy whipped baccalà, pasta e fagioli, pastissada de caval, and, among the desserts, the diplomatico (prepared with pandoro and caramel).

Locanda 4 Cuochi
Classic Cuisine, Italian
€€
A simple, albeit pleasant and lively, restaurant just behind the famous Arena, well run by two good students of chef Perbellini. You can sit at classic tables or sit on stools at the small counter facing the kitchen. In any case, full speed ahead with a contemporary Italian line, with dishes such as "Mozzarella & Carrozza," spaghetti aglio olio peperoncino and raperonzoli with shrimp and lime... to finish – perhaps – with a good tiramisù.

The name was not chosen at random: in the heart of the old town, you will find an excellent selection of Peruvian cuisine, rich in spices, colours and a variety of ingredients combined in often complex dishes. The chef is of Peruvian origin and, in addition to classic ceviche, he likes to add a Japanese touch to some dishes, creating Nikkei cuisine, the result of emigration to Peru by Japanese people who brought their own culinary traditions with them and blended them with the local cuisine.

Bearing the signature of three-starred Perbellini (his celebrated millefeuille features among the desserts), but with the talented Andrea Manzoli at the stoves, this is the quintessential venue for lovers of traditional seafood cuisine; here and there a creative touch, with the exceptional quality of the catch always center stage.

Tucked into a slightly secluded courtyard yet still in the heart of the city, this venue offers alfresco service of discreet charm during the summer months. The interiors surprise with dramatic hot-air balloons descending from the ceiling, design details that help create a distinctive and welcoming atmosphere. The culinary offering moves between dishes rooted in local tradition and more creative forays, including some appealing fish options.
