Led by two young Spanish chefs, Dan Rodriguez-Zaugg and Alejandro Perez Polo, the kitchen team creates highly innovative, exciting and technically complex dishes, such as Swiss Alpine pike-perch ceviche with white soya mayonnaise and jalapeños. The menu showcases a blend of Spanish avant-garde, South American and Asian culinary influences. There is a four- to eight-course set menu with a vegetarian alternative. Options are simpler and more limited at lunchtime, but the evening menu can also be made available upon prior request. Friendly and adept service. The restaurant is housed in a charming

This small restaurant in a side street in the old town has a charming, down-to-earth and almost intimate atmosphere. It also serves really good food, cooked up by chef-owner Jan Schmidlin from almost exclusively regional produce. Shining examples of his delicious modern seasonal fare that are not to be missed include the excellent local trout fillet served with wild broccoli, nuts, dill and beurre blanc. Alongside the four-course set menu, there is an à la carte selection of dishes, plus a good range of regional wines, which are also available by the glass. Extremely pleasant, cordial hospital

With a history dating back to 1455, this lovely half-timbered house is really something special. In an inviting atmosphere, food is served in three charming rooms and on the idyllic terrace overlooking the Rhine. The menu features Swiss classics such as fillets of perch with tartare sauce or Kalbsgeschnetzeltes Zürcher Art – Zurich veal ragout with rösti, alongside seasonal dishes such as asparagus salad with herb vinaigrette, served with smoked trout and fresh horseradish. If you are looking for a good location for a wedding or event, the premises can also be rented out.

This charming traditional inn with its striking red façade may be a little off the beaten track, but the flavoursome regional and Mediterranean cuisine served here makes the journey worthwhile. Be sure to set aside some time because Egbert Tribelhorn is the sole chef at work here, and he takes great pride in the quality and meticulous preparation of his creations. Your patience will be rewarded with impeccably crafted and bold classic dishes. Diners often opt for the "Sonnen-Menü" set menu, but the à la carte options are also very popular. The house-made ravioli are a must-try.The restaurant a

This centuries-old inn enjoys a prime location right on Marktplatz, and its charming ambiance, redolent of a bygone era, will have you yearning to return. The dedication of your hosts is also infectious. While maître d' Heidi Bischoff graciously attends to diners in the cosy wood-panelled dining areas, chef-patron Fabrice Bischoff cooks up classic, home-style fare using fresh, high-quality ingredients. Some dishes also incorporate a Mediterranean twist. On the menu you will find beef fillet Stroganoff, as well as Swiss salmon steak with accras. A simpler set menu of the day is also available a

In the countryside near Lake Constance, this converted mill is an appealing spot with a fabulous garden. It is a centuries-old half-timbered house with two dining spaces – Falkenstube and Mühlenstube – that are done up in a tasteful blend of elegant and rustic decor. The many regulars keep coming back for more not only on account of the gorgeous setting, but also for the friendly welcome extended by the hosts. On that note, owner Anne Wuhrer deserves a special mention: she and her team provide friendly, discreet service that runs like clockwork. And then there is the excellent cuisine, which i

The journey out to the countryside is well worth it for the experience of cuisine cooked with heart and passion. The menu ranges from lobster and wild boar entrecôte to classics of regional cuisine such as house-made Kalbshackbraten (veal meatloaf) and beef fillet stroganoff. Plump for the set menu or dine à la carte. In both the simple Wirtsstube (ground floor) and the more upmarket Pratum (first floor), the atmosphere is cosy – the latter also has a pretty terrace for summer days; it is converted into a fondue parlour from November to February. Tip: Their Wyberg Shop has lots of tasty treats
