With Jozua Jaring, not everything is as it seems. He pays great attention to detail in the meticulous presentation of his dishes and likes to surprise diners with contrasting colours and forms. This is a restaurant with a real "wow" factor – chef Jaring puts his own exciting spin on classic flavours, taking your taste buds on a culinary adventure: conjuring up vegetable ice cream concoctions, dabbling with Asian citrus notes or rounding off a dish with a classic, deeply flavoursome vegetable jus. The spicy aromas hit you the moment you enter this colonial-era building dating from 1899. An abundance of wood and an exotic colour scheme make for a uniquely charming setting inside – this place calls itself a café because of its casual atmosphere. The home-style Indonesian cuisine, with a slight preference for Balinese specialities, is indulgent and packs a punch. Think aromatic martabak, rich authentic rijsttafels (including vegetarian options) with spicy rendang and intensely flavoursome sambal goreng telor… At Café Samabe, a feast awaits!

Located in the heart of Haarlem, Moustique boasts stylish interior design and a terrace overlooking the Grote Kerk, plus it's open every day of the week – what a treat! The chef showcases his experience through an appealing à la carte selection and a multi-course tasting menu. He is just as adept at jazzing up fish with pickled cucumber, horseradish and jalapeño as he is at putting his own spin on steak tartare. The kitchen team thrives on excitement and daring combinations, but never at the expense of harmony on the plate.
