This place is the epitome of cosy rusticity! Housed in a quaint old timber building, the restaurant has a delightful Alpine-style interior and serves flavoursome dishes that draw on regional culinary tradition and seasonal produce. It's clear that your hosts are passionate about what they do. In the kitchen, Dominik Utassy prepares a four- to eight-course set menu (vegetarian version available), using carefully selected ingredients. Eva-Maria Utassy expertly manages the service with unaffected charm, offering astute wine recommendations. Given the limited number of seats, you would be wise to

This small fine dining restaurant is in the MONDI Hotel, which boasts a picturesque hillside location overlooking the lake Gundlsee – with such a fantastic backdrop, the terrace is a real highlight! But eating inside is just as appealing, on account of the upscale modern ambience bursting with regional charm. The emphasis is on seasonal ingredients from the surrounding area, such as Ausseerland trout, Salzkammergut catfish and Gundlsee lamb. Vegetaria

Run by Stefan Haas, this restaurant offers a totally immersive experience. The open kitchen allows you to witness firsthand how the chef-patron transforms seasonal ingredients into flavoursome dishes with his own creative touch. There is no menu in the traditional sense: you are given small cards with sketches and explanations of the dishes – you then compile your own meal from these options. Modern and minimalist in style, the dining space has only a limited number of tables. Service is friendly and adept – your host and sommelier Juliane Haas brings a warm, personal touch.

This place has kept it in the family since 1854. Now the seventh generation, embodied by daughter Lisa Mayer, is at the helm. This certified sommelier takes care of matters front of house; behind the scenes, her husband Stefan Ell-Mayer is responsible for the food. He cooks up a seasonal à la carte selection, which changes every two to three weeks. Without overwhelming diners with choice, it still promises something for everyone, from traditional beef soup or beef tartare to coq au vin with Zehentmoarhof Riesling, young vegetables, Brandteigkrapferl (traditional Austrian pastries), or golden t
