Here you’ll find it's easy to forget you're in the metropolis of Istanbul. You’re actually in the Yeniköy district, in the north of the city, just beyond the exclusive marina you pass on the way (taking the Bosphorus ferry over is a must). Behind its charming façade, this rural-style restaurant awaits with its cosy, romantic interior and a terrace to the rear where you feel cut off from the world. This enchanting spot perfectly suits Zeynep Pınar Taşdemir's highly individual style. Seasonal ingredients are showcased on the menu. The young chef likes to express her creativity with vegetables an

Japanese Contemporary · ★ Michelin

Yoshizumi Nagaya is a Japanese chef who is making waves in Düsseldorf. His mastery of Japanese tradition and technical precision is widely praised there. In Istanbul, he is living up to his reputation. He has set up shop in the cosy boutique hotel Bebek, in the lively neighbourhood of the same name. His stylish Sankai offers stunning views of the Bosporus and subtly marries Japanese authenticity with European influences. His veal cheeks are cooked for 48 hours at a very low temperature until almost candied and intensely flavoursome, then served with beans, a ponzu mayonnaise, powdered vinegar

At this classic waterfront pavilion, every table enjoys panoramic views of the mighty Bosporus, with its endless stream of boats – a breathtaking setting in which to savour the finest seafood. Having sampled the aromatic mezze presented at your table, you pick your fish from the abundant selection and indicate if you would like it steamed, barbecued or deep-fried. The kitchen puts the emphasis squarely on flavour, without any unnecessary flourishes. The Iskele special, a seafood pan with octopus, prawns and more, is seasoned only with paprika and chilli.

The Adile Sultan Palace is an events venue that is as spectacular as its name suggests. A stroll through the building will give you a sense of its grandeur and splendour – characteristics that Borsa is fortunate to share. To dine against a breathtaking backdrop of the Bosporus, head to the terrace. This upmarket restaurant showcases traditional Turkish cuisine on an à la carte basis. In his dish featuring medium-rare lamb ribs, spinach and roast potatoes, the chef allows the distinctive flavours of the ingredients to shine through. Less is more at Borsa. A mostly youthful and hip crowd frequents this pleasant bistro, which matches the energy of its neighbourhood. Lounge music plays in the background, the impressive drinks list features a notable selection of orange wines. The kitchen is run by a female chef who has composed an extensive and enticing menu that combines Mediterranean verve with Middle Eastern spiciness. For instance, she barbecues lamb to medium-rare and serves it with orzo cooked in a kokoreç broth and greengage. Tip: For a truly filling meal, consider ordering an additional starter.

With its bright interior and appealing artworks, Lokanta Limu stands out even in this bustling neighbourhood. The decor radiates a sense of serenity, and the closely spaced tables create a convivial atmosphere. Sara Tabrizi and her team of chefs delight in creating generous mezze spreads that bring a fresh perspective to authentic Turkish flavours. Think tuna marinated in raki and served with parsley, apple and red onion, or briefly seared lamb's liver with fried potatoes and onion. The extensive menu features plenty of enticing options that lend themselves well to sharing. To explore a wide r

As you make your way through this chic restaurant, you will certainly be drawn to the modern works of art and the panoramic view of the Bosporus. But what really catches the eye at AZUR is the seafood on display. The quality is second to none! All that excellent produce is showcased in dishes that fluidly blend Turkish and Mediterranean culinary traditions. Think Atlantic bluefin tuna tartare with creamy stracciatella, super-fresh fish on the plancha, paella or pasta. Meat fans are also well catered for.
