La Peca

Modern Cuisine, Contemporary · ★★ Michelin

2027 will mark forty years of business: a story made up of aromas, flavours and traditions, the story of the Portinari family, who have carved their name among the pillars of Venice's restaurant scene and beyond. Chef Nicola Portinari welcomes guests to La Peca with one clear goal: to give them pleasure, letting them choose freely from an extensive and inviting menu (for those who prefer a guided experience, there are three tasting menus, including a vegetarian option). Leafing through it, it is easy to be seduced by dishes that speak to the palate and the mind. His creations are technical, bu

"Just a few tables arranged in a simple, minimalist dining room, facing the open kitchen: the focus here is on chef Giuliano Baldessari and his creative culinary interpretations. There is a restricted selection of dishes available à la carte but, if you really want to enter his culinary world, opt for one of the surprise tasting menus, the first of which consists of ten dishes, served if you’re visiting for the first time, while the last comprises sixteen. Whatever you choose, you can expect sophisticated, imaginative cuisine of the highest standard. "

“Clean”, almost naive dishes full of clear and defined flavours take centre-stage at Incàlmo, where the cuisine is distinctly unfussy with no unnecessary frills. As a result, ingredients are clearly recognisable (as is the way they are prepared), allowing guests to focus on their contrasting textures and flavours. In the chef’s view, “if one element does stand out, it’s probably the bitter flavours that we enjoy playing with,” says the chef, “while at the same time balancing this with other elements. We also prioritise the use of vegetables.”

At this restaurant, the two brothers (the owners) who work together front of house come from a family of farmers whose meat features on the menu, while two other brothers, originally from Rome but settled in the Veneto for many years, are at the helm in the kitchen. The original and colourful cuisine aims to please both the eyes and the palate, with dishes showcased on tasting menus and an à la carte – the quail served with a caponata of apricots, yucca and porcini mushroom mayonnaise was particularly memorable. Housed in the Villa Lussana, with its seven Art Nouveau-style guestrooms, the rest
