Before choosing where to stay

Where to Base

Given the small scale of the community, accommodations are primarily located in the town center or along the River Brenig. This central location allows guests to walk easily to local amenities and markets, making it ideal for travelers who prefer a quiet atmosphere while having convenient access to explore the surrounding rural areas.

Getting Around

There is no direct airport access. Travelers must first reach major hubs such as Aberystwyth or Swansea, then transfer via train or rental car. Renting a car is highly recommended for exploring the wider 33-square-mile community and nearby hamlets like Llettum-ddu and Pentre, as public transport options within the immediate vicinity are limited.

Best Season

Spring and summer offer mild weather perfect for riverside walks and hiking in the Ceredigion countryside. Autumn provides stunning foliage views, though rain is common. Winter is quiet and peaceful, ideal for travelers seeking deep relaxation and an immersive experience of traditional Welsh life without the seasonal crowds.

Nestled in the heart of a rural village, this whitewashed former drover's inn dates back all the way to the 17th century. The space is split into several rustic, characterful bar rooms and a more modern restaurant, with the same menus served throughout. The cooking leans towards the traditional, offering classic pub dishes such as fish & chips, confit duck leg or Welsh beef burger. If the warm chocolate mousse with pistachio ice cream is available for dessert, you must try it. Bedrooms are available and, unlike your usual village local, there’s an elephant buried in the garden!
