Where to Base
Stay in the main village for walkable access to beaches, palapas, and local dining. Alternatively, choose the New Mahahual development inland from the port for newer accommodations and easy access to cruise ship passengers and infrastructure.
Getting Around
Mahahual does not have its own airport. Travelers must use ground transportation to reach the nearest airport. The village is compact, making walking the best way to explore. It is only 3 kilometers from the Costa Maya cruise port, easily accessible by local transport.
Best Season
The village is busy when cruise ships are in port, offering a lively atmosphere. The Mesoamerican Barrier Reef is accessible year-round for snorkeling and diving. For the best beach conditions, consider visiting during the drier months, though tourism is active throughout the year.
