Where to Base
Base your stay on the main island of La Maddalena town. This area offers the highest concentration of hotels, restaurants, and services. It also serves as the primary ferry terminal for day trips to other islands in the archipelago, such as Caprera and Spargi, making logistics convenient for travelers.
Getting Around
There is no airport in La Maddalena. Access is exclusively by ferry, typically departing from Palau on the Sardinian mainland, which is a short drive from major highways. Once on the island, the compact nature of the town allows for easy exploration on foot, or via rental car and local buses for reaching distant beaches.
Best Season
The best time to visit is during the summer months (June to September) when sea temperatures are warmest, ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Spring and autumn offer milder weather and fewer crowds, perfect for hiking the granite trails and photography, though some ferry schedules may be reduced compared to peak season.
