Where to Base
The northern Mae Nam area hosts the majority of hotels, offering convenience with proximity to the pier, restaurants, and shops. For a more secluded experience, consider Ao Phrao or Ao Khlong Plu in the south, which feature wider, cleaner beaches and fewer crowds, ideal for relaxation.
Getting Around
Public transportation is non-existent; visitors rely on songthaews (shared trucks), motorcycle rentals, or private taxis. Renting a scooter is popular but requires caution due to winding roads. The island is small, but traveling from north to south can take 30-45 minutes depending on traffic and road conditions.
Best Season
The dry season from November to April offers sunny weather and calm seas, making it the peak time for beach activities. The monsoon season from May to October brings rougher seas and rain, which may limit water sports, but it attracts fewer tourists and often results in lower accommodation rates.
