Where to Base
For hotel travelers, staying in the town center or near the main plaza is recommended. This area provides easy walking access to local cafes, colonial architecture, and cultural sites. Being centrally located also simplifies logistics for day trips to nearby coffee fincas or the departmental capital, Armenia, which is only 26 km away.
Getting Around
Filandia does not have its own airport. The nearest major transportation hub is the El Eden International Airport (AXM) in Armenia. Travelers should plan for a drive of approximately 30 to 40 minutes from Filandia to the airport or the city of Armenia. Given the mountainous terrain, arranging private transfers or rental cars in advance is advisable for seamless connectivity.
Best Season
The best time to visit depends on weather preferences, but generally, the drier months offer clearer views of the Andes. While the region has a mild climate year-round, avoiding heavy rainy periods ensures better conditions for exploring the town's hills and surrounding landscapes. Summer months often provide pleasant temperatures for outdoor activities and sightseeing.
