Where to Base
It is recommended to base your stay on the main island of Favignana, which serves as the administrative center and offers the most comprehensive infrastructure. Areas near the ferry terminal connecting to Trapani provide excellent transport links for day trips to neighboring islands like Marettimo and Levanzo, while also offering a wider selection of dining and services compared to the quieter outer islands.
Getting Around
Access is primarily via ferry or hydrofoil from Trapani, with a journey time of roughly 30-40 minutes. Once on the island, cycling or walking is the best way to explore, as public transport is limited. To reach the nearest international airport, travelers must first return to Trapani, where the airport is located near the Stagnone Lagoon, before continuing their journey.
Best Season
The summer months from June to September offer the best conditions, with sunny weather and warm seas ideal for diving and beach activities. Ferry schedules are frequent during this peak period, though accommodation books up quickly. Spring and autumn provide milder temperatures and fewer crowds, making them perfect for travelers seeking a peaceful retreat while still enjoying outdoor exploration.
