Chur

As the capital of the canton of Grisons, Chur sits in the Rhaetian Rhine Valley at the foot of the Alps, reputedly Switzerland’s oldest town. It serves as a vibrant cultural crossroads where German, Romansh, and Italian intersect. Located on the right bank of the Rhine, the city offers a compact yet rich historical center, making it an ideal base for exploring the region. Recent municipal mergers have expanded its boundaries, integrating areas like Maladers, Haldenstein, and Tschiertschen-Praden, enhancing its connectivity and appeal for travelers seeking both urban convenience and alpine access.

In a shopping street in Chur's old town, this friendly restaurant on the first floor is expertly run by the enthusiastic Phommarath family. They serve authentic dishes from Southeast Asia, such as house-made wonton and spring rolls, as well as various curry and wok dishes. At lunchtime, there is a shorter set menu, as well as daily specials, which are also ideal for a quick lunch break. Thanks to their grocery shop, Vannavong Asia Market (on Ringstrasse), they also have a good source of fresh ingredients at their fingertips.
