Health
For visitors, main practical issues are heat/sun, dehydration on boats and beaches, food/water hygiene, mosquito bites, and water-sport injuries. Use safe food and drinks, hydrate, use sunscreen, and prevent bites; dengue and Zika are mosquito-borne risks. There is no high-altitude concern.
Vaccinations
Consult a doctor or travel clinic at least a month before travel. Be up to date on routine vaccines, including MMR, polio, flu, varicella, Tdap/Td, shingles as applicable, and COVID-19. CDC recommends hepatitis A for unvaccinated travelers, hepatitis B for unvaccinated travelers of all ages, and typhoid for most travelers. Rabies pre-exposure vaccine is situation-dependent. Yellow fever vaccine is not recommended and not required for entry.
eSIM / connectivity
Mobile service is available through local networks including FLOW, Digicel and CCT. eSIM can work via some international travel-eSIM/roaming providers, but local visitor eSIM offers are not consistently advertised; many travelers still buy a local physical prepaid SIM/data plan or use roaming. Confirm eSIM support, coverage and bands before arrival, especially for smaller islands or sailing routes.
