London Stansted (STN) is an international airport northeast of London, best understood as a low-cost and leisure-heavy airport rather than a traditional global alliance hub. Ryanair has a major presence here, with Jet2 and TUI also important; the airline mix also includes British Airways CityFlyer, easyJet, Emirates, Pegasus, Royal Air Maroc, Royal Jordanian, Turkish Airlines and others. For central London, the Stansted Express is usually the cleanest choice: the station is directly below/next to the terminal and trains run frequently to Liverpool Street in about 48 minutes, with Tottenham Hale useful for the Victoria line. Transit passengers should build in generous time, especially if bags are not checked through, because international arrivals clear passport control and the airport says minimum connection times vary by airline and route. Lounge options are limited: the current standout is Essence by Escape Lounges near Gates 1-19, with Priority Pass, DragonPass and LoungeKey access subject to eligibility and availability; Ryanair and easyJet passengers cannot use it because of its location.
