Malta International Airport (Luqa Airport) MLALMML

Malta International Airport (MLA), commonly called Luqa Airport, is Malta’s only international airport and the country’s main air gateway rather than a large global connecting hub. It is the hub for KM Malta Airlines and an important Ryanair/Malta Air base, with a route network focused on Europe and the Mediterranean, plus selected links beyond. KM Malta Airlines is not a global-alliance member, though it uses codeshares and interline partnerships with several European and international carriers. The airport is easy to read: one passenger terminal handles arrivals and departures, with Schengen/non-Schengen processing inside the same building, so there is no terminal-to-terminal transfer. For Valletta, a taxi or app-based car is usually the most convenient choice, while direct and regular buses work well if timing fits. MLA is manageable for protected connections, but self-transfers need extra buffer for bags, immigration, security and low-cost-carrier procedures. Lounge options are centered on the airport-run La Valette Club rather than airline flagship lounges.
