Jorge Chavez International Airport LIMSPJC

Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM) is Peru’s main gateway and Lima’s core domestic-international transfer point. The new passenger terminal opened in June 2025 and now handles both domestic and international flights under one roof, replacing the old terminal for regular passenger operations. LIM is a major LATAM Perú hub and an important base for Peruvian and regional carriers such as Sky Airline Perú, JetSMART Perú and Star Perú; LATAM is no longer in a global alliance, so alliance benefits depend on individual airline partnerships rather than oneworld/SkyTeam/Star hub status. The airport has grown into a useful South America connection point, but road access remains a practical weak spot: there is no direct metro to the new terminal, and traffic in Lima can turn a short distance into a long ride. For most frequent flyers, the safest and simplest city transfer is an authorized airport taxi or app-based ride; plan roughly 30-60+ minutes to the historic centre and often longer to Miraflores/San Isidro in heavy traffic. For layovers, stay airside unless your connection is generous, and use the airport’s 24-hour rest options or lounge network if you are not clearing immigration.
