Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) is Hanoi’s main airport and the key gateway for northern Vietnam. Vietnam Airlines uses Hanoi as a SkyTeam hub, while Vietjet and Bamboo Airways also operate substantial domestic and regional schedules; foreign carriers link HAN mainly with East Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and selected long-haul points. The layout is simple: Terminal 1 is domestic and Terminal 2 is international. International-to-international transfers can usually remain inside T2 via the transfer counters on Level 2 before re-clearing security. Domestic/international transfers are less seamless: expect immigration or exit formalities, baggage/customs steps where applicable, and a landside move between terminals. For central Hanoi, a metered taxi, ride-hailing car or hotel-arranged car is the most predictable choice for frequent flyers, usually around 35-60 minutes depending on traffic; Bus 86 is a useful public option if your arrival fits its schedule and you are traveling light.
